Tickets for pope's Philadelphia speech snagged in 2 minutes

Source: AP

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Officials say tickets for Pope Francis' speech on immigration and religious freedom at Independence Mall in Philadelphia have been snapped up quickly.

The 10,000 free tickets for the Sept. 26 event were made available online at noon Tuesday, and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia says reservations for all were placed within two minutes.

Officials say the website saw 394,000 unique page views during that time.

Thousands of other tickets are being given out to parishes with large immigrant communities in an effort to assure a diverse audience.

They may have something setup that they names have to be associated with the tickets. There are ways to prevent scalping but most people can't be bothered.

The U.S. is a "capitalistic" country and the capitalists and opportunists are gonna get theirs.

According to Guinness World Records 2009, the concert holds the world record for the "Highest Demand for Tickets for One Music Concert" as 20 million requests for the reunion show were rendered online.[1]

I guess more people would rather see Led Zeppelin do a reunion concert than see the Pope speak. I'd pick Robert Plant over Pope Francis any day of the week which ironically I'll be in attendance of events with both in the same week.
