Anti-union group submits petition to end prevailing wage

Source: Detroit Free Press

By Kathleen Gray

A group looking to end Michigan's prevailing wage law turned in enough signatures Monday to put the issue before the Michigan Legislature.

The 390,959 signatures in 44 boxes that were turned in still have to go through a review with the Michigan Secretary of State to determine if there are at least 252,523 valid signatures.

“Nearly 400,000 voters have signed their names on the dotted line to demand that government spend their tax dollars more wisely,” said Chris Fisher, Vice President of Protecting Michigan Taxpayers and President of Associated Builders and Contractors of Michigan. “Taxpayers’ message couldn’t be clearer -- it’s time to repeal the prevailing wage law costing our schools and communities millions.”

The prevailing wage laws require that union scale wages are paid on public construction projects. A similar bill passed the state Senate earlier this year, but the state House of Representatives decided to wait to see if the petition drive was successful before voting on a repeal.

...demanding that a law that protects worker's wages be repealed? You deceive them, plainly and simply.

"Hey, these guys are making thirty bucks an hour while you're only making ten." It says a lot about how we're conditioned in the US that the people making ten go "Hey, they shouldn't be making thirty!" instead of "Why the fuck am I only making ten, then?"

that has a governor who give them, didn't have a election but forced the state to have his wall street crony as manager of funds.

Now supposedly 400,000 people think that if you make the "prevailing wage" you make to much, while the scab ABC contractors can pocket more taxpayer money and blame the very same workers-----------amazing.

These workers want to Repeal :

What do they have in the water in that state, besides right to work for less----------amazing---------

Quicken Loan based in Michigan pays what in taxes.

Whats does the taxpayers pay for having a brand new hockey arena built on taxpayers backs, while the owner of the hockey team pays what in taxes-------and gets tax breaks
