I have to admit, Donald Trump is entertaining," she conceded.
Trump is often criticized by his opponents for promising big results without explaining the policies he would use to achieve them. Clinton, who refers to Trump as the "flamboyant front-runner," expressed mock regret that she couldn't follow his lead.
"I have to say, I kind of wish I had this same sort of mentality," she said.
Clinton then launched into a brutal imitation of Trumps campaign rhetoric.
Oh, listen, I dont need to tell you anything. When I get there, peace will be breaking out everywhere, prosperity will be raining down upon you, we will have the new age," she said, pretending to be the Donald.
Clinton concluded her assault on real estate mogul by saying "Well, I would like to do that. But I dont think that is how a great democracy makes its decisions about who will lead us.

(6,960 posts)Anytime Hillary ventures off into trying to be amusing she looks like a marionette.
Face it, she is not an engaging speaker -- she is not Obama with his finesse, she is not Bernie with his fire, she is not Bill with his emotion, she is not Trump with is bombast, she is not even G. W. Bush with his appeal to simplicity.
The only time Hillary is even halfway a decent speaker is when she gives a policy-type address without any flourish or flair.
I felt so uncomfortable for her when I saw the Trump riff ... she just can't do that sort of thing.

(26,060 posts)I'm sure there isn't a speech out there you wouldn't find something to whine about (looks like today's whine is she's not funny enough for you). Just the way it is.

That's why I asked to find one where she is on fire- passionate- has the crowd absolutely going nuts...

(30,151 posts)I worry she is going to be Al Gore John Kerry boring if she is the nominee...
I've been donating to Martin O'Malley but he is getting 0 fucking coverage. I hope he can pull some zingers at the debate and get the audience going and his numbers up- Otherwise I'll just have to vote for whoever wins the nomination.
Who better have the ability to get folks riled up to vote D.

(26,060 posts)I've watched this speech a few times. Gives me goose bumps.
It's not a campaign speech but she touches on the same issues and I think it's an important, very important, speech that got very little coverage.
snooper2
(30,151 posts)rest of it reminds me of being at a trade show with a vendor giving a speech about how their new technology is going to change everything (with occasional polite applause)
Be honest I want to hear pissed off Hillary but her handlers probably tell her to "stay above the fray"...
She really should be able to do better than that (And I'm trying to be as objective as possible)

(154 posts)very passionate indeed
HRC is not great with 'from the heart,' probably because her heart keeps changing on the important issues (AKA Evolving).
Women's issues are important, don't get me wrong.
HRC is just consistently not one for talking straight, especially on the "tough issues" that are in my mind no-brainers.
I have great worries for the general if HRC is the nominee. I will be voting against the GOP at that point, with protest.

(2,807 posts)I agree with the poster above, this place has become a sewer of teabagger talking points posing as a primary.

(6,960 posts)Disagree or dislike Hillary and you become a 'teabagger'.
And the Hillary folks wonder why they don't get any respect around here.

(2,807 posts)They decry the "racists" taq with like, convoluted logic when pointed out, just like you are claiming when called out for acting overtly, and suspiciously negative to the DEMOCRATIC front-runner. They say, "disagree with Obama and get called a racist, whaaaaaaaa, fucking whaaaaaaaaaa". Conspicuously, you say "Disagree with Hillary and you call me a teabagger, whaaaaaaaa, fucking whaaaaaaaa!. That's not true about the racist tag and it's not true about saying you sound just like teabaggers, because you do.
You are not just disagreeing with her, or saying that you do not like her. You are attacking her much like the idiots on the right do and will do more of when they choose their loser. Disagree if you want. Dislike her if you want. But on the DU, act like a decent Democrat or face the hard, fucking truth.
Thanks for saving me the trouble of arguing with yet another whiner who trashes the Democratic frontrunner.
earthside
(6,960 posts)I don't believe that anymore.
And, anyway, just because you call her that it doesn't confer some untouchable status to her.
Frankly, most of the whining I see here on DU is from Hillary supporters who can't take the heat and reactively label critics as "teabaggers".
Get over it, Hillary is a lousy speechifier; she is sinking in the polls; and she is the candidate of establishment Wall Street Democrats.
Just stick to that and you'll be much more at peace with your choice.
leftynyc
(26,060 posts)I've NEVER said one negative word about Bernie. NOT ONE WORD. I would vote for him, O'Malley, Hillary or Joe. Because the alternative is nauseating. Your entire screed is a whine but you go ahead and comfort yourself by claiming skewed polls. It worked so incredibly well for the romney supporters.

Why can't Hillary tell the truth? Why can't we accept the truth?
We are Democrats right?

(4,673 posts)same sarcastic mocking tone, re Obama's optimism when she said: "The skies will open, the light will come down, celestial choirs will be singing and everyone will know we should do the right thing and the world will be perfect,
I didn't think it was Hillary at her best then, and don't think this was either - but we all have a different defn of humor. For me it was a disconnect, though people who know her say she has a great sense of humor. I think the natural humor she has is different from this, and I wish she'd show that side.
