Report: Russia, Syria, Iraq, Iran Create Islamic State Intel Centre
Source: DPA
Moscow (dpa) - Russia, Syria, Iraq and Iran have founded a joint centre for the exchange of information in the fight against the terrorist militia Islamic State, Russias Interfax news agency reported Saturday.
The centre, based in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, will bring together military representatives from the four participating countries.
According to the report, the facility could be used in the future to coordinate military operations against Islamic State, an offshoot of the al-Qaeda terrorist network that has gained control of significant territory in Iraq and Syria this year.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to make the case for a collective effort against the extremist group during a speech at the United Nations General Assembly on Monday.

(10,602 posts)It is obvious that Iraq probably cannot defeat them. The Kurds are only able to secure their own territory for the most part with US help. Syrian anti Assad fighters simply are not enough to defeat ISIS and their allegiance is questionable. Yet more evidence of the huge blunder Bush made.
