Republican presidential candidate, businessman Donald Trump, speaks at an event sponsored by the Greater Charleston Business Alliance and the South Carolina African American Chamber of Commerce.

Real-estate tycoon Donald Trump retains a significant lead over his Republican rivals, according to a new poll from Suffolk University and USA Today.
About 23.5% of likely Republican voters in the poll said they prefer Trump as the Republican Party's nominee. Trump leads retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, who each received about 13% support. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Florida), at 9%, and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R), at 8%, round out the top five in the poll.

The poll contained some familiar warning signs for Trump going forward — namely, that voters do not view him in much of a favorable light. Just 27% of voters overall see him favorably, while 61% said they have an unfavorable view of the real-estate magnate.

By comparison, Carson was viewed favorably by 40% of respondents, and unfavorably by 32%. Fiorina's favorability split, meanwhile, is 38-32.

He can call Mexicans mostly rapists and murderers

He can scoff at McCain's war hero status (while he deferred)

He can even reveal that he is sexually attracted to his own daughter and, you know, if he weren't her dad.....

The depths to which the Republican base has sunken after years, nay decades, of Fox News 24/7 and daytime dominated rightwing hate radio into an unnatural seething hatred of any even moderate politician, let alone progressive, to the point that they are willing to be led by any nakedly bigoted racist sexist megalomaniac clown.

He may be the best of the freak show. Ben and Carly should be at less than 1% combined.

He has been riding a wave of free publicity from the media by making controversial statements. If he wants to maintain his lead, we will now have to start spending big dollars for exposure.

Watch, when it starts becoming financially significant for Trump to stay in the race, he will fold like cheap paper napkin.
