I know 99% of this stuff is crazy-town, but it really did seem like Kevin McCarthy high-tailed it out of the race for Speaker suspiciously fast.

(18,652 posts)With all the voter distrust of Washington felt around the country, I am asking that any candidate for Speaker of the House, majority leader, and majority whip withdraw himself from the leadership election if there are any misdeeds he has committed since joining Congress that will embarrass himself, the Republican Conference and the House of Representatives if they become public, Jones wrote in a letter to Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, chair of the Republican conference.
that will leave NO ONE available to run for Speaker

(39,215 posts)see him get the speakers chair. He couldn't be such an ass as to keep this from them also until the last minute - could he? Not too many pols take their family along to a resignation. And in that resignation he was not talking about the affair so he did not need them at that point.
Very puzzling.

(16,254 posts)his decision. After all, she keeps the home fires burning for when he decides to come home and play husband. I hope she files soon and takes him for anything he has left. I would question this is the first time he's played these games and won't be the last. He is not the brightest fork on the table, that's for sure. She is probably easily led.

(12,296 posts)... she could very well have her own little freaky-deek on the side to keep her occupied while Mr. Politics is out doing his thing.
Some women become political wives knowing full well they're for appearances only, and part of the deal is that they get compensated very well to live their own lives, albeit quietly and in private.
