Half Of Democrats Want Biden In Race: Reuters/Ipsos Poll

Source: Reuters

The drumbeat for Joe Biden to jump into the 2016 presidential race is growing louder.

Almost half of the nation’s Democrats want the vice president to enter the field and challenge front-runner Hillary Clinton, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll.

The results come as speculation surrounding Biden’s intentions has intensified, with reports having him close to a decision. The declared Democratic presidential candidates, including Clinton and U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, her closest rival, will take the stage Tuesday night in Las Vegas for the first party debate.

Biden will not be there, but 48 percent of Democrats surveyed in the Reuters poll wish he were a candidate, compared with 30 percent who said he should stay out. Independents were split on the question, with 36 percent saying Biden should stay in and an equal share believing otherwise.

What can he possibly bring to the table that Hillary won't. I would say say he's more of a "Hillary" than a "Bernie". As soon as either of them get into office, the CIA, the Pentagon, and Wallstreet, will say ''here's the deal". Who did they ask in their poll? They didn't ask me.

Unless you restrict your sample to the top 1%.

Joe Biden's done bupkis for the 99%...and that's including the bankruptcy rewrite.

which is understandable but you can't have it both ways. There was even some proposal for him to declare it would only be for 1 term, 'to help stabilize the country' if he came in. What?

Unless you're just a huge fan of the guy, what does he bring to the race? You have a progressive (Bernie) and a mainstream Dem (HRC). The others don't matter, sorry to say. You let Bernie & HRC duke it out until one of them comes out victorious, then everybody backs the winner.

I don't understand the interest in Biden apart from a media-driven thing, giving them one more person for their horse race bullshit.

Seriously, does anybody here want Biden in the race? OK, there are a few, but nothing close to half.

Maybe the restricted their polling to third-way Democrats, many of which don't desire to be called Democrats.

We need a winning strategy. I have a feeling that adding Biden is not that strategy, and I think Biden feels that way too.

To me, it sounds like a silly excuse to get their Wall Street candidate in. And that's all it is--an excuse. I don't wanna just win. I want someone who thinks more of main street than anything else. That's priority number one in my book if you catch my drift.

Anyone see a link there saying how they chose the 1431? I am not seeing it. Were these landlines? Any cell calls in this one? Where do these people live? What's their median income? What's the age range? What's their gender?

The Reuters/Ipsos poll was conducted from Oct. 7-12 and surveyed 1,431 adults, including 580 self-identified Democrats. The credibility interval, which is similar to the margin of error, was 3 percent for the broader survey and 4.7 percent for the survey of Democrats.
