Maine committee investigating LePage funding threat votes to subpoena governor’s staffers

Source: Kennebec Journal

AUGUSTA — The committee investigating allegations that Gov. Paul LePage overstepped his authority when he threatened to pull state funding for a private school in Fairfield unless it rescinded its job offer to House Speaker Mark Eves voted to subpoena two of the governor’s senior advisors on Thursday.

The vote to compel the governor’s legal counsel and senior education advisor to testify followed testimony by Jack Moore, chairman of the board of Good Will-Hinckley school. Moore told the committee that the governor’s threat jeopardized the school’s solvency and forced it terminate its contract with the Democratic leader.

Moore’s testimony before the Government Oversight Committee came as the panel considered whether to deepen its investigation and subpoena members of the LePage administration to further explain the findings in a 25-page report by the Office of Program Evaluation and Government Accountability. The committee voted 8-3 to subpoena Aaron Chadbourne, a senior policy advisor, and Cynthia Montogmery, LePage’s legal counsel. Both had declined to voluntarily appear before the committee, citing a lawsuit by Eves against the governor.

Sen. Paul Davis, R-Sangerville, attended the public hearing, but was absent for the vote.

Lepage or Lepage after they impeach him.

Didn't he have his playmate, Chris Christie go up there to get an endorsement, maybe they have the same playbook to use, one uses the school format rendition and the other uses the bridge rendition

Because this right wing jerk, is now going to have to testify, there is no immunity in blackmail
I really hope the citizens of this state come to the realization, of how much this governor has cost them in tax dollars

The Bangor Daily has a poll going right now asking readers if they approve of subpoenaing these LePage advisors. Currently 92% say yes.
I have also noticed far fewer LePage cheerleaders in the comments after articles. I think that there has been so much misbehavior that most sane people realize that there is something terribly wrong.
