Syria Conflict: Russia Warns US Of 'Proxy War Risk'

Source: BBC

Russia has warned of the risk of a "proxy war" in the Middle East after the US said it would send special forces to Syria.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said this increased the need for co-operation between the US and Russia.

--CLIP
Mr Lavrov said the US had decided on its move "unilaterally and without any reference to the Syrian leadership".

He added: "I am convinced that neither the United States nor Russia of course want any kind of slide into a so-called proxy war. But to me it is obvious that this situation makes the task of co-operation between the militaries even more relevant."

It's called the doctrine of "Responsibility to Protect" or R2P for short -- basically it says established international law be damned, if a neo-liberal country decides bad things are happening to the population of another country, it can intervene militarily. Its the latest neo-liberal "feel good" spin on militarism and foreign intervention -- needless to say, it's applied very selectively and cynics might say for ulterior purposes. The neocons use other older excuses.

"Responsibility to protect
...
While R2P is a proposed norm and not a law, its proponents maintain that it is based on a respect for the principles that underly international law, especially the underlying principles of law relating to sovereignty, peace and security, human rights, and armed conflict.[6][7]"

Justin Trudeau withdraws fighter jets from Syria-Iraq

by Yves Engler / October 30th, 2015

...... But, by citing the Liberal sponsored Responsibility to Protect (R2P) to justify Canadian participation in the US-led bombing, these pundits are revealing the essence of this “humanitarian imperialist” doctrine.

The truth is, human rights rhetoric aside, R2P is an effort to redefine international law to better serve the major powers. While the less sophisticated neoconservatives simply call for a more aggressive military posture, the more liberal supporters of imperialism prefer a high-minded ideological mask to accomplish the same end. Those citing R2P to pressure Trudeau to continue bombing Iraq-Syria are demonstrating an acute, but cynical, understanding of the doctrine.

is just the excuse they use to continue their takeover of countries whenever they get opposition from the UN. The only thing these people want to protect is their ability to wage endless wars. The Russia are doing serious damage to their terrorist friend in Syria and they decide to throw them a lifeline.

Let nobody forget the speech by Wesley Clark, in it is their grand plan for the ME.

America Slowly Backs Away from Syria as Russia Launches Air Strikes
http://www.theniladmirari.com/2015/10/america-slowly-backs-away-from-syria-as.html

WASHINGTON (The Nil Admirari) - Today, the White House refused to confirm reports the United States military had started to slowly back away from Syria immediately after Russia started airstrikes in the war-torn country. President Obama declared he "really hoped" brutal Syrian President Bashar al-Assad would not be saved by his Russian ally President Putin, but also confessed, "it would not be the worst thing in the world if Russia was left holding the bag in Syria."
