Oregon, Washington probe E. coli cases linked to Chipotle

Source: AP

By PHUONG LE

SEATTLE (AP) — An investigation was underway Saturday in an E. coli outbreak linked to Chipotle restaurants in Washington state and Oregon, health officials said.

Three people in the Portland area and 19 people in Washington became sick after eating at the Mexican food chain since Oct. 14, the Oregon Health Authority said.

No deaths have been reported and eight people have been hospitalized.

"While the outbreak appears to be linked to food served at Chipotle restaurants, the food or other source of contamination hasn't yet been determined and remains under investigation," the Washington Department of Health said in a statement.

They wanted to be ready in case any bacteria attacked the customers.

Lots of meat juice in the salsa, cheese flecks in the lettuce. A lot of the servers like to take the spoonfull of salsa or whatever and press the back of it into what's already on the tortilla or bowl before turning the spoon over. - cross contamination.

Wonder what the culprit was.

I'll never go there again and I love their bowls. But too risky.
