Arizona rancher follows in Bundy’s footsteps

Source: St. George News

ST. GEORGE – Inspired by the actions of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy and his stance against federal control of public lands, a rancher on the Arizona Strip has also declared the Bureau of Land Management to be an illegitimate agency and said he will no longer comply with or recognize it.

“I hereby cancel all my contracts with the BLM,” LaVoy Finicum, of Cane Beds, Arizona, wrote in a letter he sent to the U.S. Solicitor General following his decision to no longer acknowledge BLM or its policies. Thus far, he has chosen to discontinue paying grazing permit fees and to ignore when the BLM allows certain allotments – or pasture areas – to be used for grazing.

...

It was his time with the Bundys during last year’s standoff, Finicum said, adding he was one of the cowboys who rode with the Bundy family and their supporters down into the wash under Interstate 15 where federal agents had taken many the Nevada rancher’s cattle.

“After that incident, I had to do a lot of soul-searching,” Finicum said. “I realized that Cliven Bundy was standing on a very strong constitutional principle – and yet, here I was continuing to pay a grazing fee to the BLM.”

Then he should stop using public lands, for his cattel too - if he cancel the contract, he also would have to stop using public lands - it is so simple as that - he could of course, continue to using his OWN lands the way he found it fit...

And for the Bundy ranch - it should be sized - and the proceeder's from the selling of that farm
- go to pay back what he owe BLM if you ask me...

If the government is simply going to back down when people commit illegal actions, what good is it?

I wish I could just make up theories as to which laws I will obey, or which taxes I will pay. This is a movement that needs to be nipped in the bud, starting with Bundy. Otherwise you'll find people moving their herds onto national parks using the same "logic."

precedent. That's the problem when the Fed's skip their duty. They are then seen by guys like this as weak and ineffective, and they will take advantage of the lackadaisicalness.

on my/our land, then I can go and set up a tent and tell him, get off my /our land-----------------simple------------- and give it back to the Native Americans-----------simple.

The BLM was set up to prevent political corruption in Arizona, during the TR administration and what was happening with e local government and the corruption of land use, so I am just guessing that this guy comes from the same camp of sovereign citizen------------then leave the country-----------you don't like asking for our permission, then you also need to be thrown in jail, with other hypocrite that was supported by good old Sean Hannity at one time.

Cliven Bundy is treasonous coward who should have made an example of because we all knew there would be another one.

Yeah, that's the way to get the American people on your side, by US troops killing Americans on American soil.

The federal government is prohibited, by the Posse Comitatus Act from utilizing the Army or Air Force, within the U.S., in a law enforcement role. It requires such use be either under a Constitutional authority or one granted under an act of Congress.

This doesn't preclude a governor from using the Army or Air National Guards as law enforcement inside its own state and when the Guard is under state and not federal control.

My ass.

It just took him this long to do the math. A person only has so many fingers and toes.

I'm sure that the BLM will deal with this "Welfare Rancher" in the same "decisive" way that they showed Bundy who is boss.
