Rubio: 'Ignore' Gay Marriage Decision Because 'God's Rules Always Win'

Source: Right Wing Watch/People for the American Way

In an interview today with David Brody of the Christian Broadcasting Network, Sen. Marco Rubio said that the Supreme Court’s rulings on marriage equality and abortion rights in the Obergefell and Roe decisions, respectively, are “not settled law.”

The Republican presidential candidate said that states should “do everything possible within the constraints that its placed upon us” to curtail abortion rights, before insisting that government officials “ignore” Supreme Court rulings if they believe they conflict with “God’s rules.”

“We are clearly called, in the Bible, to adhere to our civil authorities, but that conflicts with also a requirement to adhere to God’s rules,” he said. “When those two come in conflict, God’s rules always win. In essence, if we are ever ordered by a government authority to personally violate and sin, violate God’s law and sin, if we’re ordered to stop preaching the gospel, if we’re ordered to perform a same-sex marriage as someone presiding over it, we are called to ignore that. We cannot abide by that because government is compelling us to sin.”

Brody, unsurprisingly, took that as an endorsement as Kentucky clerk Kim Davis’ stance that she could flout the Supreme Court and refuse to issue marriage licenses to gay couples.

Newsflash, Rubio: Nobody makes anyone have an abortion. If you are a government
official and don't like the concept of marriage equality, then get another job
where you don't have to process marriage licenses or perform ceremonies.

are back in Jersey...my mother, in hospice, hasn't heard a word from him in over a month, good Christian that he is...He married a woman who went off the deep end for Jesus and he followed her overboard.

He actually called me a couple of years ago to ask how much money he was getting...

But, she took him and his cloned kids out of her will...only getting some $$ out of another thing that can't be changed.
I implored her to take him and the clones out and suggested she leave the money to charity, which would deserve the money more than they would...
She did that...but left it all to me, with the provision to charities and libraries in case I kick off first....that sort of made me feel that she actually finally got it that I've been the only one with her all these years....

Bet he sees the Constitution as an annoying piece of paper as well. Besides, nobody is forcing him to get married to a gay man nor have an abortion. I don't see the conflict he's having with himself and his god, unless, of course, he wants to force his god on everybody else. All this makes me wonder who's worse at getting attention: Carson? Trump? Cruz?

God's law:
"If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads." - Leviticus 20.13

Man's law:
"Murder is the unlawful killing of a person with malice aforethought." - California Penal Code 187(a)

I am of mixed mind on Rubio. I don't want him to be on the general election ballot because of the trail of destruction he'd leave behind him if he were to be elected...but the black comedy inherent in asking members of a political party that's been calling children of immigrants "anchor babies" to vote for someone who fits the description (neither of Rubio's parents were US citizens when he was born) almost makes it worth taking the chance.

Rubio's law

Adultery in the Bible is deserving of death.

Divorce (for the wrong reason) and marrying another spouse is adultery (Jesus).

Reagan was divorced and remarried, thus committing adultery.

John Hinckley was simply carrying out Rubio's version of applicable law(s).
