Colorado Springs police are responding to an active shooter in the parking lot of the Planned Parenthood on Centennial Blvd.

Officers say the gunman is firing at passing cars. We are looking into reports that say one officer was hit.

Law enforcement has closed the northbound lanes of Centennial Blvd. at W. Fillmore St.

An active shooter was reported near a Planned Parenthood in Colorado Springs.

The office is at 3480 Centennial Blvd.

Colorado Springs police officers are responding to the scene.

Scanner traffic indicated at least one patient was wounded at Elite Vision, located an adjacent building at 3470 Centennial Blvd. A later dispatch said at least four were injured.

One officer said on his radio that the gunman shot out the back window of his cruiser as the officer tried to “get a look at him." A dispatcher said the gunman wore a long coat with a hunting-type hat.

Police closed Centennial Boulevard in both directions and customers were locked down at a King Soopers grocery store and several nearby shops at Fillmore Street and Centennial Boulevard.

They keep putting the stress on *near*, so it may not be in the building or even aimed at them. There are also reports the shooter was shooting at passing cars, and has shot at least one and possibly 2 officers.

A gunman holed up in a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs Friday opened fire repeatedly through windows, reportedly injuring at least four people, including two police officers, according to police and local media reports.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Police say they are unsure about the location of a shooter in an attack near a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs that left three officers injured.

A witness says she heard as many as 20 shots in less than five minutes and saw an officer fall to the ground Friday during the shooting.

Denise Speller, manager of a nearby haircut salon, told The Gazette of Colorado Springs that she saw another officer kneel down to render aid to the officer who fell.

Commander Kirk Wilson told KKTV that two of the injured officers were evacuated and authorities were still trying to reach the third. He couldn't immediately say how the officers were doing.

123. Standoff continues at Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood clinic

Updates on the ongoing standoff at a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood office:

Just before noon today, Colorado Springs officers responded to reports of a shooter near or at the Planned Parenthood offices on Centennial Boulevard. At least three officers were wounded by the gunman during an initial exchange of fire; their conditions are not known.

The gunman, reported to be a white man carrying a long gun, is still inside the Planned Parenthood building. There are an unknown number of civilian casualties.

Police have established a very large perimeter around the clinic, and employees and patrons of local businesses continue to "shelter in place". At least one additional officer was wounded after an exchange of gunfire about two and a half hours into the standoff. Police tactical vehicles have been ferrying some victims to waiting ambulances; a long line of ambulances continues to stand by.

There are no indications yet of the gunman's motives or whether the shooting began inside or outside the building. We'll continue to post updates as reliable information comes becomes available ....

126. UPDATE - PD: Suspect left 'items' inside Planned Parenthood

UPDATE: At a press conference at 4:07 p.m., Lt. Catherine Buckley with the Colorado Springs Police Department said the scene is still active and they have not established voice contact with a suspect in the Planned Parenthood building. Police say the suspect has fired at police. People are being evacuated from the Planned Parenthood building.

Buckley said the suspect brought items into the building with him. There are also items he left outside the building. Police do not know what they are and can't go inside until the scene is stable.

Police say the incident is contained in the Planned Parenthood building, but people who are in businesses and buildings in the vicinity of the shooting will stay in lockdown until the area is deemed safe.
