WASHINGTON -- Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Monday called on Republicans to disband the House committee investigating Planned Parenthood, accusing them of creating a "frenzy of hate and anger" that contributed to last week's mass shooting at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado.
"Republicans shouldn't waste their time. I would hope that they would give up before they match the millions of dollars -- at last count more than $5 million -- they've wasted on the so-called Benghazi 'Let's get Secretary Clinton' Committee," Reid said, referring to the investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's handling of the 2012 terrorist attack in Libya.
"We bring people into a frenzy of hate and anger while providing them with easy access to firearms," Reid continued. "That has proven disastrous to our country. We have a responsibility as leaders to think very hard about what we say and do in this context."
Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) joined Reid in condemning the Planned Parenthood committee and urging its demise in a letter to House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.)................

(2,352 posts)You've only served in Congress since....1982, more than all my life. What have you done to stop this gross violation of women's rights, huh?

(90,714 posts)Many of us thought, in 1973, that abortion was now settled law, and we didn't have to think about it any more.
The so-called right to life groups scarcely existed, for much the same reason -- that is, on the opposite side of the coin, they had no reason for existence during the centuries abortion was illegal. Why would they? The entire body of law supported them, and they did not have to think about it unless their wife or daughter needed an abortion.
Rethink what you just wrote about Harry Reid. I could be wrong, but I have never heard that he was anti-choice in his legislative politics. I have only known him as a good Democrat in the US Senate.
So back up your slur or take it back.

(10,479 posts)get a good number of women to hit the pavement with placards showing the stupid Republican congress YOU DO NOT OWN MY BODY. There are too many right wingers with the attitude of "I am king." --or Queen. We should be able to sue them for taking our rights in the Constitution away from us.

I stood in counter-protest outside my local hospital during the year of No Place to Hide. I was a lot younger then, but alongside me and the other women there was Mabel G. from my church, and she was close to 90. During the BushCheney years I went to Washington DC to participate in the March for Women's Lives, where I met up with my sister, my daughter, and my best friend. All our voices -- and votes -- are still needed.

(17,301 posts)These anti-choice wackos are just too far gone. Around here in the South they are like a plague. You couldn't throw a rock without hitting one of these fools. They are really all stirred up like a bunch of hornets. They are NOT going to be satisfied until they murder every last abortion wanting woman in the US and all the brave staff and doctors that help them. They have gone off the cliff with their blood lust.
