China to overtake US as biggest electric car market

China will become world's largest market for electric vehicles this year, with up to 250,000 sold there

China is forecast to become the world's biggest electric car market this year, with sales estimated at 220,000 to 250,000 vehicles, the official news agency Xinhua said on Sunday, quoting the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

Worldwide electric cars sales are expected to increase to 600,000 this year, association deputy secretary-general Xu Yanhua told an industry conference.

China is tipped to surpass the US as the world's biggest electric car market, she said, putting the American market at an estimated 180,000 vehicles.

can replace coal electric and they're 100% clean.

Coal burned in a modern power plant produces less CO2 and other pollutants than millions of variably-maintained small engines in cars.

Further, we are making a big shift to wind and natural gas, which are even better.
