New CBS Poll Finds Big Lead for Ted Cruz in Iowa

Source: Mediaite/CBS News 11:18 am, December 20th, 2015

A CBS poll released Sunday found that Ted Cruz has pulled well ahead on Donald Trump in Iowa, with a 9-point lead.

Cruz leads the field with 40 percent of the vote, followed by Trump with 31 percent. Bringing up 3rd and 4th is Marco Rubio and Ben Carson, with 12 and 6 percent respectively. No other candidates net more than 2 percent.

The newest poll is well in line with a recent Bloomberg poll which found that Cruz had a 10-point lead in the Hawkeye State.

brings the fundies to the fold.

If Cruz owns this swath of the Pukes' base, he's going to be in the primary race for a good long time.

The steaming entrails of the beast suggest a convention of great turbulence in Cleveland.

In the end, an establishment republican will win the nomination. It will be either Rubio, bush, and maybe Kasick. The reason is that the blue/purple states pick their nomination due to winner takes all. For example, Cruz would have to win 4 southern states for 51 delegates. Another candidate wins New Jersey and the two are tied. Yep crazy but they made the rules for their party.

there are no formidable establishment candidates.

Trump has his foot on Bush's neck. Rubio rose for a time but is stagnant now. Kasich has to win New Hampshire or he's a goner, and he's not close to winning it.

Santorum ran an incredibly stupid campaign against Romney. I think Cruz is the craftier kook. in fact I think Cruz is demon-smart and is going to give the GOP a very rocky primary season.

Fortunately Dem controlled Senate is blocking the crazy teabag legislation coming out of the house.

If Cruz can crack the Trump craze with a win in Iowa, that could (possibly?) cause Trump's support to weaken and start to crumble. I don't think Cruz can spellbind so many, like Trump has, so if he wins it could then open the race up to others.

If Trump wins Iowa and NH, he will likely be unstoppable.

hold another meeting to see what can be done.

Bush's campaign keeps buying ad time and his polling remains in single digits. It's a good thing he has "lots of cool things" to do if he's not president because increasingly it looks like he's going to have plenty of time to go do them.

Mike Huckabee won Iowa once long ago. It sure doesn't look like he's going to win it this time.

as he and Cruz seem more or less to share the same notion that the U.S. government is not significant when God is the supreme law, etc.

I'm wondering if Ben Carson is going to have to be placed in 4-point restraints and hauled off to a locked facility somewhere.
