Judge allows Utah to block federal funds to state's Planned Parenthood

Source: Associated Press

A federal judge ruled on Tuesday that Utah can cut off federal funds to the state’s Planned Parenthood organization, a move the Republican governor ordered after the release of secretly recorded videos by an anti-abortion group.

The ruling from US district judge Clark Waddoups reversed an earlier decision temporarily ordering the money to keep flowing to the Planned Parenthood Association of Utah.

His ruling allows Utah to cut off funds to Planned Parenthood while the organization still pursues its lawsuit against the state.

Like Utah, other states have moved to cut funding to Planned Parenthood chapters. The organization has filed lawsuits in Arkansas, Alabama and Louisiana to block them from stripping contracts and federal money distributed by the states.

What should we do? Not allow the GOP in the election? Otherwise it's always a "risk".

You do realize there is a primary going on.

I'll worry about the GOP when candidates are actually chosen. (besides, their clown car is so pathetic, I doubt any of them can actually win. I don't think the GOP powers that be are gonna allow Trump anywhere near a seat of power.)

Seems accurate to me.... all the baggage they are standing on, and all the help from the media that other Dems aren't getting.

It's not "bashing". It's just the way it is.... with humor.

I know that.... but it's still the baggage (and not all of it is wing nuttery) that wing nuts will bring when elections come. They have an irrational hatred of things Clinton. The GOP has been gearing up to get her for about a decade now. So it does make a difference.

Besides.... the whole cartoon is more about the media than Clinton.

...and I'm already working on turning out Dem votes...even to the point where I am now willing to run for office locally because research shows that the more Dems that run locally, the more votes for ALL Dems. Not one, single Dem has been elected for over 25 years in this county so Dems quit running. I am reversing that. I will run. I will support the Dem Presidential candidate.

Technically the President picks the Judges, but given Judges appointment have to be Ratified by the US Senate, the Senate has long adopted a rule that any Judges in any State has to be approved by that State's Senators.

Now, if the Senators are of opposite party of the President, the Senators pick someone of the President's own party to be the Judge, but in reality it is the SENATORS the retain the appointment of Judges.

Thus who were the Senators when this person was more important then who was President.

This Judge was appointed in 2008 and Utah's Senators were the following

Orin Hatch:

And Bob Bennett::

Granted I think it sucks that they are willfully using videos they know to be false to justify cutting off funds but I am not sure if that will provide an avenue for an appeal unless they are breaking a federal rule or law by refusing to disperse the funds to Planned Parenthood.

and what they would call 'our nonsense' is about Women Sex and Thinking and truly Free Action and Money and all those kinds of horrible things.

Dont you see how were in the wrong? Dont you? DONT YOU SEE!!!!???

Do I REALLY need the 'sarcasm' tag?

In all truthfullness I couldnt give a lesser little damn what anyone does with their Adult Consenting Dicks, it's not anyones business but their own. As for the rank hypocracy(sp) that comes with it, well, they ARE Republicans, so expecting them to act like Rational adults anymore is tantamount to expecting that a toddler understand quantum mechanics.

As to the OP, if they don't want Federal Money for Planned Parenthood, they must not want Federal Money all that badly, so I say lets go ahead and cut off the rest of their supply for 6 months. We can revisit the issue in six WEEKS and see where we're at with that Planned Parenthood issue. Lastly, yeah, theyre Fuckers. What else is new.
