Romney doesn’t back away from ‘birther’ Trump

Source: CNN

(CNN) – Mitt Romney said Monday he wasn’t concerned about Donald Trump’s commitment to the “birther” conspiracy, one day before the GOP presidential candidate hosts a fund-raiser alongside the celebrity business magnate.

Asked on his charter plane whether Trump’s questioning of President Barack Obama’s birthplace gave him pause, Romney simply said he was grateful for all his supporters.

“You know, I don't agree with all the people who support me and my guess is they don't all agree with everything I believe in,” Romney said. “But I need to get 50.1% or more and I'm appreciative to have the help of a lot of good people.”

Romney has said in the past that he firmly believes Obama was born in Hawaii, and is thus constitutionally eligible to be president.

We can now attribute to Romney everything that T Rump says, right? This is the same thing as Rev. Wright and Bill Ayers, right?

whereas the headline should read "Romney fails to stand up to birther Trump". Once again, Romney has the chance to show leadership, Presidential gravitas, and courage and he chickens out, like he did with Limbaugh and Nugent.

I don't care how I prostitute myself as long as it gets me closer to 50.1%.

Next thing you know he will be telling us he likes to fire people. What, Romney has already said that? My bad. It looks like Romney didn't catch Colin Powell's sage advise to him to "think" because he surely didn't do that here.

a pampered child of privilege, with no core values or ideas of his own, who will rubber stamp anything the extreme right wants.

Can't help but feel we've been down this road before...

If Mittens can't even stand up to the birthers, will he offer even the most miniscule hope of moderation when dealing Grover Norquist and the rightwing nuts who want to gut the social safety net?

Just another corporate shill in an empty suit.

Trump is obviously wrong on the "birther" issue, he leaves the door open by saying he doesn't "agree" with "all" the people who support him. He probably has that line ready for when he's supported by some nutcase white supremacist or other whack job who crawls out from under a rock. His campaign slogan should be "No principles, No Integrity, All Donations Cheerfully Accepted."
