Call for supplies as Oregon standoff enters second week

BURNS, Ore. (AP) The occupation of national wildlife area by a small, armed group upset over federal land policies stretched into its second week as the mother of the group's leader asked supporters to send supplies - everything from warm blankets to coffee creamer.
The group that seized the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon's high desert country on Jan. 2 planned no media briefings. It was quiet at the entrance to the refuge Sunday.
The leader of the occupation, Ammon Bundy, has repeatedly rejected calls to leave buildings at the refuge despite pleas from the county sheriff, from many local residents and from Oregon's governor, among others. He has said the group will leave when there is a plan to transfer control of federal land to locals.
. . .
On Saturday, Ammon Bundy's mother, Carol Bundy, sent an email to supporters asking them to send her son's group supplies from a list of more than 80 items, including sleeping bags, wool socks, cigarettes, toiletries, food, coffee and "French Vanilla Creamer."

Why let any supplies through to these scofflaws. I hope the authorities have turned off all utilities.

I know it is a tough spot, and it will be bloody hell if a WACO situation occurs, but at the very least they gotta have that place buttoned up, no one in and one on out.
These moron's stupidity and half arsedness can be what gets this resolved.

What a dope show and the folks who would give money to these entitled grifters are like the fools who would give money to the Palin Side Show. How these fools are allowed - after all this time - to come and go and pretend to be in some sort of Alamo fantasy camp, is beyond me - AND to go begging/whining for supplies.

Ammon Bundy owns house in Emmett
Jan 6, 2016
EMMETT One of the leaders of the occupation of a federal building in Burns, Oregon, has ties to Emmett.
Ammon and Lisa Bundy have a residence in Emmett, according to the Emmett Messenger-Index. The house on South Slope Road is 5,102 square feet on 4.89 acres. It has an apple orchard and was built in 2005. They purchased it June 2015, Gem County Assessor Rick Johnston told the Messenger-Index.

(7,919 posts)Aside from living in an altered state wherein it is common comment to warn people that you will shoot them if you think they threaten you...
More and more I get the impression they are up to something else, possibly with direction or help from 3rd parties that are using this sideshow as they have others like it to drive the fear and gun agenda. I don't see it working the way the Bundy brigade say it will, nor does anyone with any sense.
One reason for the FBI to hold back would be to find the connections I have alluded to above. Possible but not likely? I'm sure the attempt to avoid violence is real on the part of all concerned. However unless Bundy was prepared to go to jail prior to it this action makes no sense to do. Leaving aside the apparent mental dysfunction and disregard for law enforcement for the sake of argument what else can they expect to achieve?
I have met some of these guys, though not this batch, in south western Montana. They really do seem to live in their heads about the law. In their minds the law does not work therefore it can be disregarded as if it only applied to other lesser beings. I have also seen up close the pseudo cowboys with their empowering macho weapons cult. They never go anywhere without being armed: grocery store, laundromat, church (I strongly suspect), Junior High football games. They most resemble the mob guys I recall from Philadelphia: in a world of their own controlled by their own rules...and a don't-piss-me-off-it's-not-healthy attitude.

(7,919 posts)However I am no expert that I could profile what they may think or do.
I'm just getting the feeling that there is some kind of more and less to what is going on out there. It is very difficult to decide just where the boundaries of reality lie in this setting. After all it seemed that there would be some kind of arrests and the like after the Bundy Ranch situation. You'd think there would at least be action by federal marshals for drawn weapons aimed at BLM officers, not to mention warrants to impound the Bundy cattle and personal property in lieu of fees owed. If a landlord in my town can do it certainly the Feds can.
But the "Bundy brigade" has been active during the last year in other locations. We've been told by the MSM that they don't have a plan just a kind of murky self-defined anti-federal manifesto. I wonder just how much they may be coordinated by some less visible 3rd party with other agendas. The Koch brothers come to mind.
I also wonder just how far the Feds and FBI have decided to hold back on the Bundy gang and what their agenda is, if they have one that is. They truly seemed surprised by the Pacific Patriots Network showing up at the airport in Burns, which points to a very weak sense of whats going on, or else misdirection from within.
I do not want to see this become Ruby Ridge II, or anything like it. I can't help thinking there is more going on though, that this is being staged for the press somehow, especially after Republican state lawmakers met with Bundy seemingly validating the takeover.

if FBI, does an airdrop of supplies, generator, and fuel. We don't want these ranchers to become uncomfortable or inconvenienced.
The siege could be ended with a sound canon (LRAD) device.

CROW & COYOTE discuss the BurnsPaiute / BundyBoy affair
POLITICAL SATIRE and laughter are, for me, a way of dissipating all the bad energy generated -- the bad karma / confused thinking / 2nd-rate commercial reporting -- when we can't avoid all the tragic-comic insanity of the world, and the near-manic, non-stop news reporting on all the insanity of the world, a d i n f i n i t u m . . .
When the root of a problem is VIOLENCE, and the near universal ignorance of the destructive, divisive nature of thought which is its cause, and we are flooded with sounds and images stuck in yet another tight ball of the, well, Devil's Rope of the culture of force, we must take great care to get back up to the clearer, higher ground of real dialogue and serious, sustained, peaceful reflection.
"It's Nature's way....I tell you!" says CROW.
