Des Moines, Iowa (CNN)..........................
Holder, who stepped down as attorney general in 2015, will campaign with Clinton in South Carolina this weekend, including Sunday's Democratic debate sponsored by the Congressional Black Caucus.
"Our next president can't shy away from building on the progress of President Obama, which is why Hillary Clinton is the candidate that we need in the White House," Holder said in a statement. "She has the experience and right judgment to deliver results for families across the country."
In addition to campaigning with Clinton, Holder will also deliver the keynote address on her behalf at a church service on Sunday at Morris Street Baptist Church in Charleston, South Carolina.
Holder cites Clinton's plan to "address police brutality" and "fight for commonsense reforms to our gun laws" in his statement, arguing that Clinton can be counted on because she "has spent her life taking on the toughest fights."...............

Yeah, I really do care about Supreme Court appointments. That's why I'm voting for Sanders.

(45,984 posts)I do not believe Mr. Holder's soft peddling of Wall Street crime should be rewarded with a seat on The Court. His defenders can whine all they want about those being record civil fines, but Legs Dimon, Pretty Boy Lloyd and others belong in the slammer.

(28,017 posts)corporatists, bank lackeys, or toads like Holder, who goes out of his way to protect Wall?
When Baby Bush fucked over our nation by ignoring warnings, putting in his own village idiots (Condi Rice) in responsible positions of power, and failing to safeguard this country, what did he do after 9/11 One massive cover-up, two inane wars, and the destruction of the middle east as a potentially peaceful area. He refused to find out who failed at their jobs, who was to blame domestically for our unpreparedness, and to root out those responsible.
When Holder was in charge of the DOJ, and banksters ripped off Americans and America, what did he do? One massive cover-up, inane bail-outs with unbelievable generous terms, and the destruction of the financial security for millions of Americans. He refused to find out who failed at their jobs, who was to blame domestically for our unpreparedness, and to root out those responsible.
And people want to brag about this Wall Street hack's endorsement of another Wall Street hack?

(13,877 posts)Killer Mike passionately spoke on Bernie's behalf and he has a young, multi-racial audience that heard him, and probably does every day. I'm going to take a guess that his fervency inspired a number of young people to action. That was pretty epic, IMO.
Holder? Who on earth would he influence? No one. If I were Hillary I might have asked him NOT to endorse her. His creds are lacking.

(1,145 posts)pro-corporate, bootlicking CBC sellouts Hillary Clinton can trot out for endorsing her, they can't hide the fact that she and her husband have done immense harm to Black America in order to try and appease "independent" Republicans and corporate fat cat donors. She'll never get a pass from me and there are plenty of other Black people who want nothing to do with any of the Clintons.
It's going to take more than token surrogates to hide the fact that you're fake, Madame Secretary.

(28,017 posts)Her grasp over the AA community is fading rapidly, much like her chances to win the nomination. Hell, even the MSM is discussing it.
Now, with her attacks on Bernie, she looks inept, desperate, and even willing to accept the support of someone who should be charged with dereliction of duty, rather than than earn seven figures at Covington, the firm which represents most of Wall Street in its efforts to rip off americans.

(1,145 posts)No, it doesn't and to imagine that it does is silly.
What matters is sincerity and his consistency over the years on the issues that are of great concern to the Black community. People can sense someone who is sincere and genuine, and I think Hillary's problem is that she comes across as cold, calculating and tone deaf to many people, Black or otherwise. Hillary's not the kind of person who'd choose to walk around a run-down Baltimore neighborhood to witness blight firsthand, or sit down with a rapper named "Killer Mike" to shoot the breeze with. When Bernie says he's concerned about mass incarceration and the devastation it has reaped for many generations of youth and their families in Black communities, it comes across as more sincere, especially since he's not taking money from the private prison industry (modern-day slavemasters).
Hillary and Bill sided with Republicans in signing the "get tough on crime" bill which funded more police and began transforming the US into the largest prison state in the world, with most of them coming from Black and Brown neighborhoods. It was their complicity with the Republican's racist "war on drugs" that has wrought untold harm to Black America on all levels - I cannot even began to address how much harm mass incarceration has done on all levels of Black existence in the US. Read "The New Jim Crow" if you haven't already.
So let's not look at what good Bernie has done for a Black community that for all intents and purposes doesn't exist in his home, but look at the harm Hillary and her husband has done to Black people all over the country. We can also throw in her delight in destroying what was once one of Africa's most prosperous and stable countries (Libya) and laughing at the murder of Gaddafi (a man who insisted women have equal access to life and liberty even back in the 1970's), an African leader who espoused unity among the African nations and was looking to build unity and independence among the African states. That was a direct assault against Africa, and every Black America should see it for what it was.
The establishment Black folks surrounding Hillary and littering the halls of Capitol Hill have no credibility among the ordinary people because they've sold their souls to corporate dollars a long time ago.
No shit!

Why Eric Holder's endorsement of Hillary Clinton might matter
Hillary Clinton secured an endorsement from the nation's first black attorney general. Why that might matter in the Democratic primary.
By Bill Barrow, Associated Press January 13, 2016
Save for later
Charleston, S.C. As she works to maintain an advantage among African-American voters in her quest for the Democratic presidential nomination, Hillary Clinton has secured an endorsement from the nation's first black attorney general.
The Clinton campaign announced Eric Holder's support in a statement to the Associated Press.
Holder, who served as President Barack Obama's top law enforcement appointee for more than five years, said Clinton "is the candidate that we need in the White House" to continue "the progress of President Obama."

The former attorney general will campaign for Clinton in an upcoming swing to South Carolina, accompanying her to a state Democratic Party dinner Saturday and a Sunday debate sponsored by NBC News and the Congressional Black Caucus.
Holder's statement cited a list of policy areas that Clinton has highlighted in her battle against Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, including several that resonate strongly among black voters.
African-American voters favor Clinton by a wide margin according to preference polls, and they will likely make up a majority of the Democratic electorate in South Carolina's Feb. 27 primary and potentially in other Southern primaries that follow in March...................

(582 posts)criticism? Can he do no wrong simply by virtue of being black? What an utterly childish stance to take. Get real. It's not "bashing" when the criticism is legitimate.
The fact is Eric Holder stood by and let Wall Street run riot when the evidence of massive criminal activity was overwhelming. Holder was the head of the United States Justice Department at the time and pointedly looked the other way as massive fraud was committed for years. This makes him shamefully derelict in his duty, to say the very least, and it makes him an embarrassment to the AG's office, and I'll go so far as to say that by virtue of his total inaction he's criminally complicit.

in general, and in that regard I think what I said is still true. It would look, well .. downright
inconsistent for him to endorse Bernie.
