Militia in Flint calls for justice in water crisis
Source: USA Today
Flint may have seen multiple rallies in recent weeks that called attention to the city's water crisis but few if any were as surprising as a rally held by the Genesee County Volunteer Militia.
On Sunday afternoon, about 30 militia supporters clad in camouflage gear and bearing Dont Tread on Me flags, gathered outside of City Hall to demand accountability amid a national discussion over how the citys water supply became contaminated.
Were here to defend this community," said Matthew Krol, the militia's executive officer, addressing the crowd in a full camouflage outfit with a handgun strapped to his hip. Were not going to allow (the government) to step on the people of Flint any longer.
He added: If it means having to take up arms in defense ... we will do that as well.

Just when you think you'd seen it all....perhaps Hell has frozen over.
Still, this is an interesting development. Imagine if all that anger and anti-government sentiment the militia nuts are harboring were to become channeled against officials breaking the law and seemingly getting away with it like the Michigan Governor who poisoned all those children.
Can vigilante justice be far behind?
Or...horrors for the powers behind the throne...what if the brainwashed masses have an awakening and figure out that some government regulation is a good thing (like regulating polluters) and that they may have some things in common with the oppressed people of Flint? If the right-wingers start calling for justice for Flint, that could be the start of a profound shift in thinking--and one that might be harder for the GOP to ignore.

(16,079 posts)They should have been outside of the capital building in Lansing, not City Hall in Flint!!!
Are these clowns too stupid to realize that it wasn't the elected city government that made the decision, that it was an "emergency manager" created by the state legislature and appointed by the governor, who was responsible for this fiasco!
And I'm willing to bet that some if not all of this "militia" voted for Snyder and the Republicans!!!
Someone needs to give these idiots a map, showing them how to get to Lansing!

My mind tells me that this Militia was doing a little P.R. work..

(459 posts)to gather a militia. What is happening in Flint is a government that is attempting genocide, so a private water company can take over a city run water company, by murdering it's customer base. This is really happening, and this militia should round up thousands of more members!!

ALERTER'S COMMENTS
This is a TOS violation - advocates of violent political/social change are not welcome here.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Mon Jan 25, 2016, 08:21 AM, and the Jury voted 3-4 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: I initially was going to vote Not to Hide, since the Alerted Post is not explicitly calling for violence and since I was giving the benefit of my doubts to the possible peaceful/protest intent of the militia. But then I read the quotes in the OP and followup.
Sorry, any avocation of armed violence in the absence of a direct, explicit and personal threat is unacceptable.
Hide.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: This is one members thought about what they believe is a genocide occurring in Flint, Michigan and that opinion is not "over the top" by any means over lead poisoning an entire town.
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #5 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Juries vote on the post not the TOS. I don't agree with the post but it's fair to discuss. Why don't you try it alerter.
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: I have mixed feelings on this. I share the outrage of the OP, but deplore the call to call for insurrection. Perhaps we DUers can educate the poster about the constitutional methods for dealing with those who have subverted the and replaced the elected government for their own ill-gotten profit and morally bankrupt ideology.
Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

Hell, a cheap, dangerous, market driven water system is like porn for the militia types who jack themselves off to Ayn Rand

-so, they are going to defend what? clean water by shooting the lead filled water with...lead?
"The militia's Facebook page is filled with proclamations of gun rights, and also bears posts favorable to the armed militia that have been occupying an Oregon wildlife refuge"
-I'll just let that speak for itself.
-how about we allow the thinking people of the universe file charges against the state of Michigan? I know, crazy.

Point of fact - Persian King Xerxes was so angry about the Hellespont River rising up and destroying his tactical bridges that he had all the bridge engineers executed ..
He also condemned the river itself to 300 lashes of the whip ...

(24,703 posts)I guess they haven't figured it out yet that "they" got this entire criminal enterprise in FLINT and in Michigan get elected, with there help.
There principles are what, at the this moment?
Your about year and half to late, and about six years to late when this governor got elected, figure it out yet. Your part of the problem
Maybe they should be directing there anger at the simple fact they they have "city managers" running the governments, you know, in a lot of ways , no in fact, these "Don't Tread I me " hypocrites should have this squarely placed on there shoulders along with anyone and I mean anyone that voted in this corrupt legislature, Attorney General, Governor and the courts as well.
So before looking for blame------------------first of all look at your self in the mirror--------------you voted this hypocrite into office and anyone else and you supported this mantra and this quote:
"I'm a proud Republican - there's no issue with that at all, so why can't I be a proud Republican and just try to solve problems?"
Because, they, after all, they don't think that a government is legal unless the sheriff is running the show , look no further than the dead beats called Bundy---------------welcome to your Twilight Zone
You now have a problem that is self induced and man made------------------poisoning and deaths cause by contaminated water
Honk--------------------for a political revolution
It is about getting a Progressive President, U.S. Supreme Court, Congress, and State and Local legislatures
