Suspect in Deputy Goforth murder declared incompetent to stand trial

Shannon Miles has been declared incompetent to stand trial in the murder charge against him.
The decision was announced in a Houston courtroom Tuesday morning. Miles will now undergo 120 days of treatment in mental health facility, after which prosecutors are hopeful he will eventually stand trial.
Miles is the accused killer of Harris County Sheriff's Deputy Darren Goforth. Deputy Goforth was pumping gas in August 2015 when he was shot 15 times from behind.
In December, defense attorney Anthony Osso said he had his client professionally evaluated. The defense's expert found Miles is schizophrenic, has psychotic episodes, and is incompetent to stand trial.
