A passenger plane carrying 153 passengers has crashed in a neighbourhood of Nigeria's densely populated economic capital Lagos.
Femi Oke-Osanyinpolu, Lagos state emergency state manager, said on Sunday that casualty numbers are unknown.
Harold Denuren, head of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, confirmed the crash. He said the Dana Air flight was heading from Lagos to Abuja in Nigeria. "I don't believe there are any survivors."
Federal emergency management confirmed the crash in a neighbourhood just outside the airport and said that its emergency personnel were on their way to the scene.

(3,032 posts)Because they are subject to inspections when they land at EU airports. It's domestic flights in Russia you should worry about.
Having said that, Aeroflot has not had a incident in more than years. They had some bad ones right after the collapse of the USSR, and a major part of their atrocious Soviet safety record is that every single aircraft in the entire soviet union, down to crop dusters and helicopters were Aeroflot aircraft, as they were the state civilian air authority and only operator.
I would have no problems flying Aeroflot today, at least internationally. If i had a connecting domestic flight i would have a look at who the operator is..
Check out Aeroflot's current fleet.

Lagos plane crash: Nigeria suspends Dana Air licence
Nigeria's civil aviation authority has grounded all Dana Air's aeroplanes after one of its aircraft crashed on Sunday in a busy Lagos suburb.
The commercial aircraft was flying from the Nigerian capital, Abuja, to Lagos when it crashed and burst into flames.
All 153 people on board, and an unknown number on the ground, were killed.
Meanwhile, the country's lawmakers have called for the head of the civil aviation authority to step aside while they carry out an investigation.
