Ankara blast: Turkey vows retaliation for deadly bomb attack
Source: BBC
Turkey has vowed to retaliate against the perpetrators of a powerful blast in the capital Ankara that left at least 28 people dead and 61 injured.
"Turkey will not shy away from using its right to self-defence at any time, any place or any occasion," President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.
Officials said a vehicle full of explosives was detonated as military buses were passing by on Wednesday. Funerals are expected to take place later on Thursday.
No group has so far said it was behind the attack.

(2,103 posts)BEIRUT: The head of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party on Thursday denied Turkish allegations that the group was involved in a bombing in Ankara that killed 28 people.
"We deny any involvement in this attack," Saleh Muslim told AFP, after Turkey's prime minister accused the party's armed wing of carrying out the attack in coordination with the Kurdistan Worker's Party, an outlawed Kurdish group in Turkey.

(36,745 posts)Question: How do you fingerprint someone from a car which had 1000 lbs of C-4 in it?
Answer: You don't, because there is nothing left to fingerprint.
This incident just screams "false flag".

(16,191 posts)The Kurds have been one of the most effective fighting forces against the Islamic State. If the IS stripped the Kurds of its funding and weapons by forcing a split between them and the United States, or forced the Kurds into a war against Turkey, their offensive agains the Islamic State would be blunted.
On the other hand, a false flag by Turkey itself would help to strip one of their longtime enemies of power. The Turks don't want the Kurds to gain a state, and the best way for them to prevent that is to justify an invasion of Kurdish lands.
But then again, the Russians, Iran and Assad would also benefit greatly from the split. The Kurds cannot stand against the Islamic State alone, and a split between them and the US will send the Kurds frantically searching for a new ally and source of funds and supplies. If it comes to an all-out war with Turkey, they'll need troops and air power to aid in the fight. Russia, Assad and Iran all stand to gain by getting the Kurds solidly onto their side.
I don't believe for a moment that the Syrian Kurds carried this attack out themselves. There's absolutely no benefit for them to have done it, the attack doesn't fit their ideology, and they have a LOT to lose by pissing off the Turks. It makes no sense for them to have done it. But I have NO idea who DID do it.

(13,566 posts)I don't know who is responsible, but Turkey has been massing troops at the Syrian border and shelling the Kurds across it, while saying they totally aren't going to invade, and now this happens and they blame Assad? Pretty much right at the moment when the border is about to be closed off to the ISIS oil they've been buying and the "moderate rebels" they have been supporting for five years?
And Saudi Arabia, who Turkey has been working with, has been supporting "moderate rebels" with arms and money, much of which somehow finds it's way under the control of ISIS, is forming a coalition to invade and "defeat ISIS"?
...
Sounds legit.
