A group of local non-union janitors is continuing a strike Thursday in an effort to end what they say is wage theft.
Janitors from CTUL, a workers rights organization, began striking at 8 p.m. Wednesday, hours before some striking janitors were scheduled to work at midnight Thursday, according to CTULs media spokesperson, Merle Payne.
The strike, which aims to bring attention to wages throughout the janitorial industry, will end at 8 p.m. Thursday. A rally took place outside of Macy's in downtown Minneapolis early Thursday.
Protesters slowed traffic downtown snarling things on Interstates 94 and 35W. Demonstrators spilled into streets downtown. Law enforcement is redirecting traffic to keep cars from the protesters.
