Clinton Or Sanders? California Legislative Women's Caucus Split

Then, a reporter asked the room full of Democratic state lawmakers who they support for president. And it got awkward.

That led Asm. Lorena Gonzalez (D-San Diego) to interrupt and a split quickly emerged. (To get the full picture, we recommend you listen to our audio story.)

Gonzalez went on to say that some women particularly young women may see poverty as their biggest obstacle. So they may choose that over the symbolic nature of a woman as president, she said.

(2,931 posts)My wife, a very intelligent 32 year old Californian, initially was all about HRC due to the woman factor+name recognition. I kept telling her to read up on this guy Bernie and his plans. I can't convince her of anything myself, she is about as stubborn as I am, so all I could do was tell her to read about him.
She liked what she read, and after the first debate she decided he is the best choice for the future.

(1,265 posts)And I've been cornering the vote once a week for Bernie in my town since September. The first day I went there were two of us. Now there's about 20 regulars and I can't tell you the number of times a car full of young people pulls over to join us because they know of Bernie and support him in a big way.
The feedback from drivers that go by this busiest intersection in my So Cal town has been 90+% positive from the beginning, and more all the time. At least here we're keeping it alive and will until he wins.

(128 posts)I guess that would be me. If not for supporting Bernie then for upsetting people on DU. I made a comment about Hillary and bam jury said it was rude. Thought people here could express their opinions but not if your critical of Hillary. Sad thought DU was a little more tolerant. Guess I'll go back to reading and not commenting. Don't want to upset anyone.

(1,089 posts)in the process, so who knows what could be happening by then? Perhaps because of that, I haven't seen much of anything related to the campaign around here yet. Those I have talked to, though, have either been full-on Bernie people or were just starting to learn about this 'socialist' and liking what they were reading and hearing so far. I can tell you that before SBS ever started gaining momentum, everyone I spoke to mentioned Clinton fatigue, Booooosh fatigue and tRump horror.
We'll see how it goes. June is a long way off.
