Obama to give speech in Chicago on Supreme Court vacancy dispute

President Obama will travel to his hometown of Chicago Thursday to deliver an address on the pending vacancy on the Supreme Court.

Obama will give the speech at the University of Chicago law school, where he was a professor before entering elected office.

The trip was announced Friday by presidential counselor Brian Deese, who is handling the Supreme Court vacancy for the White House, at a Politico-sponsored breakfast event in Washington.

Also adding to the significance of the venue is that Merrick B. Garland, Obama’s nominee to replace the late Justice Antonin Scania, was raised in a Chicago suburb.

why the fuck can't PBO nominate someone like Marshall to take Scalia's place?

There must be a few around, a bit more liberal than this Garland guy...

We need someone sympathetic to labor causes.
