MidAmerican Energy said Thursday it would invest $3.6 billion in new wind energy projects in Iowa, resulting in 85 percent of its customers' electricity coming from renewable sources.

The Des Moines-based company, a division of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., said the project would be its largest and would be "a giant step toward realizing the company’s vision of 100 percent renewable energy for customers in the state."

The company said it would file a request with the Iowa Utilities Board to build Wind XI, adding up to 2,000 megawatts of wind generation in Iowa.

The project would not mean a rate increase or require financial assistance from the state, said Bill Fehrman, chief executive of MidAmerican Energy.

recently killed our Roof top Solar Industry here in Nevada. Same for Utah/Rocky Mtn. Power and Arizona Power. We canceled our Solar Project when this went down.
