Lansing The Michigan Court of Appeals will not intervene in the legality of petitions circulated for a repeal of the state's controversial emergency manager law.
The full Court of Appeals on Thursday declined a request by a three-judge panel to convene a special seven-member panel of judges to reconsider legal precedent surrounding the compliance of petitions circulated by the group Stand Up for Democracy.

Based on today's development, the three-judge could order the Board of State Canvassers to place the repeal on the Nov. 6 general election ballot.

(108 posts)I did not think that in this country that anyone could take away your right to vote.
Republicans are trying very hard to do so and becoming the permanent ruling
junta. Only Texas is worse. Texas has been on the wrong side of every social
issue since and including the civil war (slavery, civil rights, gay rights, women's
health, children's health, education, etc). God help us, at least Michigan's liberals
and progressives are fighting back.

(40,416 posts)But if you listen to the MI Republicans -- Calvinists from Grand Rapids and fundies from rural areas, you'll hear a lot of god-speak.
So let's leave these minor deities out of it.
I apologize to you if you are a believer, but us Democrats shouldn't have to invoke deities to gain political advantage. I would prefer that we leave the theocrats that make up the Republican party to do that.
Peace, my friend.
