Political bites: Kerrey (D-NE) , Rove spar over 2009 speech

Source: Omaha World Herald

By Robynn Tysver

Bob Kerrey and Karl Rove agree on little, including what Kerrey may or may not have said in a 2009 speech on cap and trade legislation.

Kerrey and American Crossroads — the GOP advocacy group founded by Rove that has hammered Kerrey on the airwaves as a “liberal” who is “out of touch” with Nebraskans— tangled Thursday over a new American Crossroads television ad.

In the advertisement, American Crossroads accused Kerrey of urging U.S. Senators to “damn the consequences” and vote “yes” on the proposed climate control bill, regardless of its impact on the economy.

Kerrey says he was only arguing at the time that the best arguments were not being made to get the bill passed.
