Mont. Authorities Say Hitchhiker Shot Himself

Source: ABC News

A West Virginia man who claimed to be a victim of a drive-by shooting along a
rural Montana highway while working on a memoir called "Kindness in America"
has confessed to shooting himself, authorities said Friday.

Ray Dolin of Julian, W. Va., 39, made the acknowledgement Thursday night, said Valley County Sheriff Glen Meier.

The case remains under investigation and charges are possible, though none have been filed.

to the number of times you heard about it after and it makes pretty good sense.

Getting caught was stupid. Letting someone be picked up by the cops for it was evil. But the plan wasn't necessarily bad. Just the execution was flawed.

something this awful happened in my home state. I mean, yeah, other bad things have happened there, but I always thought of Montana as being the kind of place where you could hitchhike safely.

.. that story was awfully strange. At the very least parts were left out.

Oh well, if you are going to pull a stunt like that you have to have the grit to stick to the lie no matter what.

Telling a lie is just a self promotion modality. Truth is irrelevant, really, as is being found out in the end, the lie is all about getting that one moment in which you get to proclaim a falsehood and to after other people's money or reputations on that basis. What happens after that does not really matter.
A liar is the worst sort of person that exists. The liar holds others in utter contempt, not just some others, all others.

Besides who take a bus from W. Va. to Montana if they plan on hitchhiking. Dolin will be cooling his heals for sometime.
