Trump campaign admits it did not raise $6 million for veterans

Source: CNN

When Donald Trump skipped a GOP debate in January to host a fundraiser for veterans, he touted its success by citing the $6 million raised for veterans groups. One problem -- that figure is inaccurate.

(snip)

Lewandowski said he did not "know the exact number" off the top of his head and would confirm the number in coming days. He explained the discrepancy by saying at the time of the rally, Trump believed he had raised $6 million but more money had been pledged than was actually donated.

The Washington Post reported Friday that Lewandowski said the fundraiser actually netted about $4.5 million. Lewandowski told CNN that number is incorrect.

its very common that the amount "pledged" is higher than whats actually brought in. However, it Looks like some of Trumps "pledgers" are welchers. Which isnt much of a surprise!

He exaggerates everything else (like his net worth), so it's certainly possible.

a list of contributors, all of whom's pledged contributions have been received. In addition there were $3M pledged by Trump and two of his billionaire friends who pledged a million each. So either EVERYONE, other than Trump and his cronies, paid NONE of what they pledged (which I find impossible to believe), thereby the only pledges received were those of Trump and the other two billionnaires, OR everyone else paid what was pledged except the three billionaires. If I were a betting man, my money would be on the billionaires not paying up.

This was after all a last minute "fundraiser" and I think Trump was so full of himself that he thought he could easily raise $6M in one evening from his "angry base" and paraded his billionaire buddies across the stage with their million dollar pledges to rile up his base with the promise to the billionaire cronies that they wouldn't really have to fork over a million bucks, just pretend to. He then boasted that they had raise $6M to make himself look good but they only received $2.9M pledges from the public, which the public paid and the Billionaires have yet to pay.

Hillary raised nothing for veterans. Trump has distributed around $3 million to various veteran groups from that event so far.

to have raised millions, and then have it turn out that the amount stated is a flat-out lie, and most of the groups have seen nothing that was promised.

Whether it comes directly from the candidates or from their minions.

No wonder she said (recently) she would only debate issues. Then again, her positions have shifted, morphed, 180'd so many time on a variety of them this creates its own risk in and of itself.

They BOTH have real problems as candidates that are best left unspoken by either one.

Poor us.
