Documents In Trump University Case Unsealed in San Diego
Source: NBC 7 San Diego
The class-action lawsuit involving Trump University is scheduled to be heard in November 2016 in San Diego federal court.
Several playbooks used by Trump University were released to the public Tuesday and detail how much students paid to attend the now-closed school.
The Washington Post asked U.S. Federal Judge Gonzalo Curiel to intervene in order to ask for thousands of pages of documents to be unsealed in one of the class-action lawsuits against Donald Trump and Trump University. The judge agreed issued the unsealing Friday in a San Diego courtroom.
In the class action lawsuits, Trump University is accused of misleading students with unfulfilled promises of teaching them the secret to being successful in the real estate business.

(660 posts)The instruction was so sketchy that there really isn't much to read. The students were told that they would be taught Trump's "secrets" by a faculty hand-picked by Trump. In fact, Trump picked none of the instructors (many of whom were people who had bankrupted themselves in real estate deals), Trump had nothing to do with preparing the curricula and never showed up at the "university." The "secrets" included advice like if tax advice is needed, the student should go to Trump's secret tax information source - IRS.com. Students were taught how to get their credit card limits increased by lying to the bank about their income (e.g., including in income the amounts that they expected to earn from fabulous real estate deals). The purpose of getting higher credit limits was to enable the student to pay for advanced courses, without which the student would probably fail in the competitive world of real estate.
In fact, it was all very similar to what we are now seeing from Trump the candidate. Trump does not believe that the truth need to correspond to real facts. In Trump's view, truth is measured by the extent to which it serves the speaker's interests.

(34,661 posts)Educational scams, certain monies were recovered after legal actions, all be it pennies on the dollar. Understand the Students are for the most part screwed. Assume same rules pertain as if it was a Accredited Institution, you do a Student Loan and it is your baby or your relatives baby until it goes to zero. Have a acquaintance who did himself a 100k debt thing to be a helicopter jockey, tried a BK to rid himself of the debt but he is stuck with it even after the School went bust.
