Martin O'Malley endorses Hillary Clinton
Source: Baltimore Sun
Former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley on Thursday endorsed his party's presumptive nominee for president, Hillary Clinton -- four months after he dropped out of the race himself.
The endorsement, which O'Malley made through an email, came minutes after President Barack Obama offered his own endorsement of Clinton in a video. It also came on a day when Bernie Sanders was meeting with Democrats in Washington, presumably to discuss his exit from the race.
O'Malley, who has widely avoided the media since his third-place finish in Iowa, has never publicly addressed his decision not to endorse a candidate in the primary.
"Congratulations to Secretary Clinton for winning a long and hard-fought nomination process, and also to Senator Sanders for waging an exciting campaign focused on important progressive issues about which so many of us care so deeply," O'Malley said in a statement. "The voters have spoken, it is time now to unite our party."

(3,072 posts)I don't know much about him other than he was the governor of Maryland and he ran for president this year.

(45,442 posts)There is some question about his possibly propping up his crime reduction numbers while Mayor of Baltimore. And some liberals do not like the police tactics he used as mayor. Many of those liberals do not know what Baltimore is like.
He was a good governor when I lived in Maryland.

(4,558 posts)I do apply that remark to both sides. I don't think our candidates were terribly vicious, but DAMN the vitriol between the camps was very disheartening at times.
He was definitely 100% successful in getting a number of very important conversations started.
I really hope the steam keeps up and get's a down ticket progressive congress in the works.
