Donald Trump: Americans Who Don’t Report Their Suspicious Neighbors Should Be ‘Brought To Justice’
Source: Huffington Post
Donald Trump on Monday proposed punishing Americans if they dont turn in their friends and neighbors for behaving suspiciously.
In San Bernardino, people knew what was going on, they knew exactly, but they used the excuse of racial profiling for not reporting it, Trump said during a speech in the wake of the Orlando mass shooting.
The presumptive GOP presidential nominee was presumably referring to unverified reports that a woman who lived near the mother of one of the San Bernardino shooters had noticed that the family received quite a few packages within a short amount of time, and they were doing a lot of work out in the garage.
A man who claimed to be friends with this neighbor said she did not report the packages and the behavior to authorities because she didnt want to do any kind of racial profiling.

(35,356 posts)He was brought up on federal charges last September for failing to report what he know would likely be a crime.
DUers had called for his head for quite a while before that. He knew and he didn't inform. When he was charged, nobody defended him. Nobody said it was like Hitler's Germany. It was right. It was good. It was justice.
Meeks didn't report on what he'd heard about a possible impending mass shooting.
DU's consensus was that he was morally reprobate for allowing such speech to go unreported. How dare he not betray his friend's confidence or boasting?
He'd heard Dylann Roof saying what he might or would do.
Meeks plead not guilty. On May 2, 2016, it was announced he'd reached a plea deal so he could plead guilty. https://www.splcenter.org/hatewatch/2016/05/02/prosecution-case-against-dylann-roof-gets-stronger-friend%E2%80%99s-guilty-pleas
We thought it a moral obligation when it suited us, when Meeks failed to report on a loony-tunes white male. From what I read here, it's apparently a crime against humanity to report on people when they're an oppressed minority, even if it might save lives. I wonder if Mateen's victims had been all black if views would be different, or if Omar Mateen had been "Connor Martin", a white 29-year-old evangelical Xian from an upper middle class family.
Now, is Trump speaking in this limited a fashion? Who the hell knows. His speech is both hyperbolic and elliptical. ("Hyperbolic" = exaggerated, 'elliptical' = marked by the presence of ellipsis or recoverable word deletion).

(65,488 posts)"Kids' arrest outrages Murfreesboro community"
Police handcuffed multiple students, ages 6 to 11, at a public elementary school in Murfreesboro on Friday, inspiring public outcry and adding fuel to already heightened tensions between law enforcement and communities of color nationwide <emphasis added>.
The arrests at Hobgood Elementary School occurred after the students were accused of not stopping a fight that happened several days earlier off campus <emphasis added>. A juvenile center later released the students, but local community members now call for action police review of the incident and community conversation and social justice experts across the country use words such as "startling" and "flabbergasted" in response to actions in the case.
Parents and community members sharply criticized the arrests of the students at a church meeting Sunday. The Murfreesboro police chief on Sunday cited the incident as a learning experience, a chance to "make things better so they don't happen again." The city manager said Sunday: "If something needs to be corrected, it will be."
It remains unclear exactly how many children were arrested. State law prohibits the release of juvenile law enforcement records, and police have denied a media request for the information. Murfreesboro police didn't say what state law the kids violated, but parents of several of the arrested children say the kids were charged with "criminal responsibility for conduct of another," which according to Tennessee criminal offense code includes incidents when a "person fails to make a reasonable effort to prevent" an offense <emphasis added>.
SNIP
Handcuff little 6-year-old kids in front of all their friends at school because they failed to step in and stop a fight that a bunch of other, older kids were involved in. Heck, many of those kids were not even at the scene of the fight--they just lived in the neighborhood. And since when are little kids responsible for breaking up fights that they have nothing to do with?

(2,550 posts)>With his careful mix of plainspoken honesty and reactionary delusion, Trump is following an old rhetorical playbook, one defined and employed successfully in the 1936 presidential campaign of Senator Berzelius Buzz Windrip.
In the Windrip campaigns promotional book Zero Hour, Windrip laid out the classic nativist call to action that Trump would pick up nearly word-for-word:
"My one ambition is to get all Americans to realize that they are, and must continue to be, the greatest Race on the face of this old Earth, and second, to realize that whatever apparent differences there may be among us, in wealth, knowledge, skill, ancestry or strengththough, of course, all this does not apply to people who are racially different from uswe are all brothers, bound together in the great and wonderful bond of National Unity, for which we should all be very glad."
After Windrips coup at the Democratic convention, he won a three-way race when the other two candidates split the reasonable vote. Once elected, President Windrip appealed directly to his core constituency of un-prosperous and resentful white men to help him repress dissent and bring fascism to America. Its a chilling historical lesson, even though it didnt actually happen.<

His name is Trump, Donald, and is more dangerous to my country than any ISIS follower. He wants to change my country into a dictatorship of the insane, racists, and bigots that most people in this country are trying to stop. He should be arrested and interrogated with water board torture to find out his true leanings, affiliations and crimes. He has a history of dealing with organized crime figures and has defrauded hundreds, and possibly thousands of honest hard working Americans. He is criminal of the highest order and I want to report him to the appropriate authorities.
