After assassination of police officers, Trump says the right thing
Source: Washington Post
Last night, snipers killed five police officers and wounded seven others at an otherwise peaceful rally protesting recent police shootings. Not much is known about the attackers, but at a presser this morning, the Dallas police chief said one attacker had indicated during a standoff that he said he was upset about the recent police shootings, and that the suspect stated he wanted to kill white people, especially white officers.
Today Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton canceled their events, but Trump issued a measured statement this morning expressing condolences for the victims, and adding these remarks:
We must restore law and order. We must restore the confidence of our people to be safe and secure in their homes and on the street.
The senseless, tragic deaths of two motorists in Louisiana and Minnesota reminds us how much more needs to be done
.Our nation has become too divided. Too many Americans feel like theyve lost hope. Crime is harming too many citizens. Racial tensions have gotten worse, not better. This isnt the American Dream we all want for our children.
This is a time, perhaps more than ever, for strong leadership, love and compassion. We will pull through these tragedies.

(1,254 posts)We know Trump's racist rhetoric is ratcheting up racial tensions and violence. Now they see this is leading beyond what their intended purpose was. Trumps was trying to garner support for his election and did not intend for this to turn into a real race war with escalating violence. The last thing Trump wants is a violent confrontation on the streets of Cleveland between protesters, skinheads and the KKK. We have already seen wacko gun nuts and wacko pastors call for armed thugs to go to Cleveland and to deal with BLM protesters as vigilantes. Now this happens in Dallas. It is enough to incite more violence for those looking for revenge and planning to take it on the streets of Cleveland. If that happens, Trump knows he will be largely to blame. Yep, Trump's strategy is blowing up in his face and now he is trying to put the genie back in the bottle.

(45,451 posts)to issue a rational communication like that. How long will the person who wrote this last until he fires them for being soft?
Dude built his campaign on division and racism and lost hope. He has no love or compassion in his icy cold heart.
