Trump Campaign Chief Dodges Question On Trump's Financial Ties With Russia
Source: TPM
Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort said Wednesday morning that Trump does not have business interests in Russia, but his answers to questions about Trump's relationship to Russia during an interview with CBS' "This Morning" were vague and left unanswered some of the remaining questions about the extent of Trump's financial ties with Russian interests.
"Trump tweeted yesterday that he has zero investments in Russia, but does Russia have investments in Trump? Would Mr. Trump be willing to release his tax returns to provide transparency on this issue?" CBS' Norah O'Donnell asked Manafort Wednesday morning.
"Mr. Trump has said that his taxes are under audit, and he will not be releasing them," Manafort said in response. "It has nothing to do with Russia. It has nothing to do with any country other than the United States and his normal tax auditing processes."

The Clintons have released decades worth of tax returns.
If Trump released his taxes from even seven or eight years ago, this might tell us something about who has influence over him, in terms of providing the capital he needs to run an empire that has repeatedly gone bankrupt.

(131,072 posts)7. The problem is that Donald Trump has in the past had obvious economic interests in Russia. The Washington Post outlined them in June.
8. A quote in that piece from Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr. who is also an executive with Trump's business makes clear how the company in 2008 sought business from wealthy Russians. "In terms of high-end product influx into the U.S., Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets," he said at a conference that year, according to news reports. "We see a lot of money pouring in from Russia."
9. The year prior, Trump said in a deposition that "Russia is one of the hottest places in the world for investment," and that he planned to "be in Moscow at some point.">>>
