Rahall (D-W.Va.) to vote to hold Holder in contempt

Source: Charleston Gazette

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Rep. Nick Rahall said Wednesday he will be one of a handful of Democrats to vote Thursday to hold U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for failing to turn over documents related to a failed gun-tracking operation known as "Fast and Furious."

"The Congress has a constitutional responsibility to ensure that our government -- whether controlled by a Republican or Democratic administration -- answers to the people," Rahall told the Gazette on Wednesday.

The ongoing dispute relates to the Justice Department-approved tactic of allowing guns to cross the border illegally from Arizona into Mexico in an attempt to track down Mexican firearms traders.

House Republicans say Holder has declined to release critical documents to Congress about Operation Fast and Furious by the U.S. government.

Truly depressing - he used to be a halfway decent representative (voted against the Iraq war, etc), but it appears these days, he's following "Democrat" Sen. Joe Manchin's lead and trying to appeal to the rightwing nuts in the state.

Half the congress is scared to death of a bad rating from the gun lobby. NRA is behind this whole deal and FOX news loves it.

with this show of cooperation/conformity? We have a group of traitors in the power positions of the party. They are why so many people do not see enough of a difference to matter.

It's the energy money that they are concerned about. Plus, in the Primary a prisoner was placed on the Democratic ballot in WV and he got half of the Democratic vote. People voted for somebody they did not know just to oppose Obama. I believe it is racial with some and with others it is over energy. The coal miners are afraid. It is the politics of fear in WV. Manchin had a close race the last time against Raese and he is running against him again. I am in WV. I have written to all of them to no avail. Money talks in these situations. WV is doing well. We were one of the poorest states and now are predicted to be one of the richest. The energy money is being poured into the Red states to show people that voting Red gives you jobs. Their money does nothing for me. My salary is still low. People look with blind eyes to the good things Obama does. Many of us have cancer and wonder why. The water is polluted. The ground is undermined. Now the gas lines are being layed all over the "Mountain State". They are even taking rigs up back roads that haven't been traveled, carving roads through the beautiful woods. What will happen to WV? We will be one of the richest states! That is the rumor going around. The day of Senator Byrd is gone. These Dems. are collecting energy money. Yet, they run on the Democratic ticket. It is sad for the people who want to vote for those who would support the President's agenda. Maybe, the president should talk with them.

If you don't vote for contempt, then you will be on the NRA's s*** list, which will kill any WV politician's career.
