Delta System Outage Triggers Delays Worldwide

Thousands of Delta passengers around the world were experiencing delays Monday due to a system-wide computer failure.
"Our systems are down everywhere," the airline told customers on Twitter.
An airline spokesman did not immediately have confirmation.
Passengers reported delays at airports including London Heathrow, Tokyo and Los Angeles.

(238 posts)Legacy or not, a "modern" mainframe has a 30 year mean time to failure (last I checked anyway). The likelihood is that something else (code release, other external system, network) is having a problem.
I'm always curious when something like this happens, being in the IT industry. Guarantee a group of people are having a very long day somewhere.
