St. Joseph School District Placed on Lockdown

ST. JOSEPH, Mo.

Schools in St. Joseph have been placed on a district-wide lockdown after multiple reports of shots fired around the city. Joey Austin, with the St. Joseph School District, confirmed the lockdown just before 10:00 a.m. Monday morning after several reports of shots fired throughout the city.

Authorities have said that there have been multiple calls, possibly stemming back to as early as 10:30 last night, of shots fired. It is unclear how many incidents they are working at this time. Authorities are looking for an black SUV that may be related the calls.

Austin said that the school district will remain on lockdown until they have confirmation from police that it is safe to release the lockdown.
