Justice Department Will Probe Metro Phoenix Sheriff Arpaio

PHOENIX — Aug 26, 2016, 9:48 PM ET

The investigation and possible prosecution of metropolitan Phoenix Sheriff Joe Arpaio will be handled by the U.S. Justice Department after federal prosecutors in Arizona asked to be removed because of unspecified conflicts of interest, according to a court filing made public Friday.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for Arizona said in its brief filing in U.S. District Court in Phoenix that the case has been assigned to the Justice Department's criminal division, public integrity section.

The filing cited "existing conflicts of interest or the appearance of conflicts of interest pertaining to the matter" for Arizona's federal prosecutors, but it did not provide details.

Mel McDonald, an attorney for Arpaio, said he was disappointed by the decision.............

9. I first became aware of Arpaio years ago

This isn't going to go smoothly.
His officers/deputies/posse have for many years gotten away with things like:

crashing into peoples cars
(accidentally) lighting peoples houses on fire. Then forcing their puppy into the house and not letting the owners rescue their dog

When the sheriff says drugs are not allowed in his facilities he means it. Insulin is apparently contraband. See: Deborah Braillard
There are multiple websites that deal with the fact that prisons/jails often won't allow either insulin or the equipment to deliver it.

Having prisons shut down floors of the building thus displacing prisoners thus providing him with inmates for his tent prison.
There is the obvious problem of having someone who profits from higher numbers of prisoners and who also gets to decide who becomes a prisoner.

Here is where the difficulty starts:
Every time someone has tried to investigate him he just has them "arrested". No charges, no crime committed. Really just a kidnapping. After a day in a Hot Box (heat torture) they don't want to investigate him any more.

And the fact that he has 2 private armies. The first are the deputies who are sadistic, corrupt and loyal only to him. The second is much the same but is made of civilian volunteers and referred to as his "posse".

Finally I would just like to end it with something I got from cracked.com because the sheriff likes to say that you shouldn't complain about the heat in his "tent city" because soldiers deal with heat in Iraqi deserts.
"Defending himself with "BUT THE SOLDIERS," because Joe doesn't need to arrest you to exploit you."
