Clinton's lead halved in new national poll
Source: The Hill
Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clintons lead over Republican nominee Donald Trump has been halved in one week in a new national poll.
Clinton leads Trump by 3 points, 43 percent to 40 percent, in a head-to-head match-up in the Morning Consult poll released Sunday morning.
One week ago, Clinton led Trump by 6 points, 44 percent to 38 percent.
Voters view both candidates unfavorably, pollsters found, with 58 percent holding a negative view of Trump and 57 percent saying the same about Clinton.

I'm betting it won't be a horserace after the first debate no matter what they try to tell us.

(3,963 posts)It may stay a horse race because the media wants that. Do you think it's a coincidence that there are so many near 50/50 races these days? It's to keep things interesting. The media can clearly bias the process by deciding what to cover and how much. So, they can keep a race artificially around 50/50 levels until the last minute if they want to.

(6,974 posts)Has to be yet in another long line of JUNK POLLS.
There's no way tRump gets 20% of the vote in Washington DC. NO WAY.
Then there's this from Consult's own page:
"Trumps outreach to African American voters appears to be falling flat among that demographic, with only 5 percent of black voters saying they will vote for Trump; 79 percent of African American respondents say they will vote for Clinton, with 16 percent undecided."
https://morningconsult.com/2016/08/28/trump-gains-ground-clinton-black-voters-still-wary/
1. 5% of African-Americans voting for tRump when national polling says he'll be lucky to get 2% of African-American voters votes.
2. 16% of the African-American vote is undecided on whether to vote for Hillary or not.
NOTHING TO SEE HERE....
I'm waiting to see better polling in September and beyond.

(11,119 posts)I'm am beginning to buy into the supposition that running campaigns for politicians and politicians that run for office has become the latest new industry!
I really do believe that campaign managers manipulate these candidates into continuing to fund-raise for these campaigns by using these polls to convince candidates (and voters) that these races are closer than they actually are!
Politicians are suckers and so are we voters! It would be nice if Congress could legislate that fundraising could only take place 12 or 18 months prior to any federal election!

(37,748 posts)Your consistency in posting only poll results negative to Clinton is telling, my little friend. No doubt, you'll allege your narrative as something completely different than what your consistency thus advertises.
