Esquire added an editor's note to its August 2004 profile of Donald Trump on Thursday afternoon that fact-checks the GOP nominee's claims that he opposed the Iraq War from the beginning.

During NBC News' Commander-In-Chief forum on Wednesday night, Trump continued to deny that he had supported the Iraq War, citing the old Esquire story as proof. Esquire appended an editor's note to the story in question to set the record straight.

"During the 2016 presidential election, Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed to have been against the Iraq War from the beginning, and he has cited this story as proof," the note reads. "The Iraq War began in March 2003, more than a year before this story ran, thus nullifying Trump's timeline."

Deputy editor John Hendrickson tweeted an explanation for the update: "Donald Trump won't stop lying."

The then needs to show clips of Trump calling for American troops to be taken out of Iraq. The Clinton team could also add clips of Trump, in his New York office, calling for the U.S. to bomb Libya and topple Gaddafi. The add could then end with clips of Trump now claiming he was against those military actions.
