Washington (CNN)Rep. Louie Gohmert dove fully into health conspiracies about Hillary Clinton on Friday, declaring the Democratic presidential nominee "mentally impaired" multiple times.

The Texas Republican was speaking at the Value Voters Summit, an annual gathering of social conservatives in Washington. He was telling a story about not taking the easy route in Congress, when he quipped: "When you look at the kind of people running for president, no-brainers are a good thing now."

Seemingly invoking conspiracy theories about Clinton's health that have been debunked, Gohmert referenced a concussion Clinton sustained in a fall in 2012 as his guess for the start of her "impairment."

"Maybe it was the concussion, the fall back when she did, or maybe who knows, they won't tell us what really is going on with her, but if I were going to smash cell phones, BlackBerrys, I'd use a two-pound sledge," he said, referring to a recent FBI report that said at least one of her phones as secretary of state was destroyed with a hammer. "Maybe someone got to whaling around, hit her again. We ought to be praying for Hillary Clinton. There's special needs there -- mental impairment."

31. Interesting story behind the expression "pot calling the kettle black" ...

Some people have objected to this recently because it seems to imply that "black" is insulting. But that really has nothing to do with the original meaning. It dates from the days when pots were made of cast iron (which was, and is, black), and kettles -- at least in more prosperous households -- were made of copper, which could be hammered fairly thin, and thus were lighter than iron kettles. Unfortunately, this also made them a bit more expensive. A copper kettle was thus something of an item to show off, and the owners kept them polished to a mirror shine. So, when a pot sees its own reflection in the kettle, and assumes it is the kettle which is black, it is attributing its own characteristic color to the kettle. Similarly, when some person accuses another of shortcomings which the accuser possesses in abundance, we say that's "the pot calling the kettle black" in that the accuser, in his perception of the accused, is seeing his own shortcomings, and blaming them on the accused. This is, of course, considered normal behavior for Republicans.

If there was ever a poster child for this condition, it is Louie "The Loon" Goohbert.
