Hillary Clinton not feeling well, leaves 9/11 event early
By Shimon Prokupecz, Dan Merica and Jeff Zeleny, CNN
Updated 11:12 AM ET, Sun September 11, 2016

(CNN)Updated 11:10 am: "Secretary Clinton attended the September 11th Commemoration Ceremony for just one hour and 30 minutes this morning to pay her respects and greet some of the families of the fallen. During the ceremony, she felt overheated so departed to go to her daughter's apartment, and is feeling much better," Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill said in a statement.

Original post: Hillary Clinton came to the ground zero memorial service not feeling well and then she decided to leave the event, a senior law enforcement official briefed on the episode tells CNN. The pool accompanying Clinton says she left the ceremony around 9:30 am.
While she was making her way into a van in her motorcade, Secret Service agents helped her into the van in the motorcade, the official said.

Clinton's people should never create situations that help Trump.

All they had to do was make sure she was comfortable at the event. Would it have been that hard?

The job of the campaign is to make Clinton look strong and capable, not to throw Trump another news cycle.

I am not worried about Clinton, I'm sure she'll be fine, but this is a strategic mistake on the campaign's part.

The second mistake of the week.

So what if someone doesn't feel good? She and Trump are both at an age where their bodies are naturally declining. That is a fact, this is our candidate, rather than demand she hide some small incident or physical vulnerability we should not allow it to be an insult.
Or, maybe they should hid the fact that she, no doubt, uses reading glasses too.

That happen to all of us from time to time get blown out of proportion when it comes to Hillary Clinton. Her "coughing spell" is a prime example. Everyone of us has had an episode of dry throat, swallowing wrong or allergic response to dust, dander or pollen. No mystery. No emergency. Just a normal bodily reaction, but Trump and his spokesmen talked it up endlessly like she is an end stage lung cancer patient.

Getting overheated in a high humidity setting is another common thing. It happens to me regularly, living along the Gulf Coast where our heat index often goes to triple digits. I sweat profusely and feel slightly nauseated. As soon as I get to an air conditioned environment, I recover rapidly.

This is getting to be old and a really dumb story every time she hiccoughs. Anyone with eyes can see her in a public setting and she is fine. Any journalist who allows them to follow this story line without pushing back is not doing their job. To allow them to prattle on is journalistic malpractice.

but that's not really the issue.

Anyone can have and many people do have bad days with one-off events that maybe won't mean much.

The problem is she's had a series of reported 'medical events'. I'm not comfortable with the reporting or the diagnosing of the events, but there have been a series reported.

This event was caught on video. Her inability to stand without support or to step into her transport even while supported by 2 large men isn't a rumor.

It's against that context that everyone can expect much speculation that will mostly try to find a rationalization that makes all the events be due to a common cause rather than a coincidence of one-offs.

Every additional event is going to be like oxygen blown onto glowing coals causing the media to burst into flame. Getting in front of this means doing something more than asserting a claim that everything is fine. Saying things are fine, even if they are, when they don't seem that way, is just going to work against her.

Concern trolls can seriously go back under their rocks and bridges over this one. Travel makes people dehydrated. Seasonal allergies, which she does in fact suffer from, can also make you dehydrated. The sun makes people warm. This is a frakin no-brainer.

Anyone who wants to whine otherwise- that this is bad "optics" or a more serious health emergency-, is playing into the sexist "weak" narrative that the Trump campaign has been spinning for months. Give the woman some darn gatorade and a banana and call it a day.

Even if she were in failing health, I would still vote for her. Even if she were at fucking death's door, I'd vote for her over Donald Trump. Christ, if she dropped dead I'd still vote for her over Trump. I don't care if she fainted, if she had heat exhaustion, if she was dehydrated, she has my vote. I prefer a sick or even dying Hillary Clinton over a hale and hearty Donald Trump. In fact, the only way in hell I'd even think for an instant of voting for him is if you could assure me he'd stroke out and die the next day, and even then I wouldn't vote for him because Pence.

If I could go back in time to the 1930s, knowing what I know now about FDR's health, I'd still vote for him. Or JFK in 1960.

Of course, I don't think Hillary has any serious health issues, but like you, I would vote for her if she did.

We all sometimes get colds. We all sometimes get headaches. We all get uncomfortably hot or cold.

It doesn't mean there's something sinister going on.

Daddy Bush was famously sick all over the Japanese Prime Minister once! And while it was certainly an embarrassment, no one that I remember said that he wasn't able to be president because of it.

No president, past or future, has better health than Trump!

Within an hour after arriving at an outdoor festival. The temperature was in the mid 80s on a sunny day.

I suddenly felt sick. Then I asked an exhibitor if I could sit down on the chair in her booth. Next thing I know I am in an ambulance on the way to the ER for fluids. I hadn't ridden in an ambulance before nor since.

Hillary has already bounced back. Anyone can overheat. This isn't anything more than that.

I get heat-sick every once in a while when Im not prepared for humid heat. Starts out with wooziness, then a splitting headache and the need to wretch - which actually helps me feel better. Only cures are at least a half hour of shade, an ice pack, some breeze, lavender oil ( or Vicks vapo-rub on the bridge of my nose) and 8 oz of cold caffine. Or 6 hour of rest in the shade and about a quart of water. It's not the same as heat stroke, which l've had twice.
Doesn't mean I'm weak, just means I have to prepare for humid heat when I go out.

running the way she has been. I would never have the stamina to do a fraction of what she does.

Pushing herself as far as she does is amazing on its own. GO Hillary!

I noticed nobody around her seems to have a bottle of water, big mistake. Someone with her activity level should always be over-hydrated.

The humidity has been killer. It's a little better now but I couldn't imagine being out in this in a suit and maybe Spanx and hosiery. It's been tough enough in shorts and a t shirt!

It's a binary choice America!

Clinton or Trump. And he's clearly not presidential material.

She's been readying for this moment in time her entire life....

I think it was a poor performance by her staff. Someone should have noticed her discomfort and got her the hell out of there before that stupid van video could be make. I want people fired. Whoever is responsible for Hillary's well being may not be on her (our) side. MSNBC is playing the video over and over.

And the media that's against her is going to be against her no matter what. Hillary figured that out a loooong time ago. Let that reaction shot of hers at the Trey Gowdy-led Benghazi hearings be your guide to how she feels about it all. She's weathered worse than MSNBC playing a video over & over.

I can't imagine any one who would change their vote to Trump even if she were gravely ill. With Kaine in their it might even make it less adverse for some.
