Bolivian Anti-drug Action More Promising Than The US Govt's, Says New York Times


LA PAZ, Sept 15 (BERNAMA-NNN-PRENSA LATINA)-- US newspaper The New York Times considered Wednesday that the struggle of Bolivia against drugs, is much more promising that the one implemented by the US government.

The New York Times said that the Bolivian strategy against drugs 'is more promising than the forced eradication model implemented by Washington' in one of its editorials.

The strategy by Washington, which implies air fumigation with herbicides, hand eradication, and judicial trials to the drug trafficking capos in the US, is insufficient, just as in Colombia.

The New York Times highlighted the policy of the Bolivian government to gradually stop coca cultivation, by means of the establishment of a market, which is strictly regulated to be consumed as medication and not as a drug.
