RNC schedules call with members for Monday night

Source: Politico

The Republican National Committee has scheduled a conference call with its members on Monday evening, according to an invitation obtained by POLITICO.

The call, which is to start at 5 pm ET and is slated to last 30 minutes, does not have a set agenda. But it comes amid swirling speculation surrounding whether the RNC will divert resources from Trump to down-ballot candidates. Many RNC members have expressed profound unease with Trump following the release of a bombshell 2005 tape showing him bragging about sexually assaulting women.

An RNC spokesperson didn’t respond to a request for comment.

because they have to make huge inroads in Iowa, Ohio, North Carolina, Florida, Nevada, and Colorado. If it were just Iowa and Ohio, that would be one thing, but they can't afford to put money into all those other states.

OTOH, several of the Senate races are right on the edge and that is probably a much better use of their money.

3. The goofs at MSNBC have been 24x7 breathlessly talking about pulling Trump

off the ticket. That has zero probability of happening. It would accomplish nothing. Trump has already done all the damage that can be done.

The report cited in this thread makes much more sense. The RNC's best hope for "victory" now is to keep the Dems from getting the Senate majority. While the 60-vote filibuster is sill in effect, it is extremely important to be able to set the agenda of the Senate/ Obviously this makes a huge difference on getting judiciary appointments filled, especially SCOTUS appointments.

I expect after this week, most of the RNC powers that be are ready to pull the plug on any financial support they might have given Trump. Moreover, who wants Trump in their state? At this point, those GOP Senators on the bubble would rather have Trump 1000 miles away.

with the pure intent to rub salt in the wounds of the Republicans who turn against him.

Trump would be very likely to go after those who have betrayed him so horribly!!1! Because humiliation is unbearable to the narcissist, it is former friends/supporters who are the most important targets of wrath, more so than your run of the mill enemies.

They simply won't let him in. And Trump's ego cannot stand that kind of rejection, so he won't try.

Trump could win the presidency in a month. I don't think it will happen; still, I consider that it could happen.

Trump doesn't represents something that I think is quite different from recent Republican politics. Does the Republican Party wish to adopt the Trump politics, or not?

... I would expect that 30 minutes won't be enough time. The attack on Fort Sumter, after all, took a day or two.
