Ann Romney: Obama's whole campaign strategy is "let's kill this guy"

Source: CBS News

On a mission to shatter the image of her husband as rigid and unrelatable, Ann Romney told CBS News she worries that President Obama's entire campaign strategy is "kill Romney."

"I feel like all he's doing is saying, 'Let's kill this guy," she said, seated next to her husband, presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, in an exclusive interview with CBS News chief political correspondent Jan Crawford. "And I feel like that's not really a very good campaign policy.

"I feel like Mitt's got the answers to turn this country around," she continued. "He's the one that's got to bring back hope for this country, which is what they ran on last time. But the truth is, this is the one that has the hope for the - for America."

In August, some Democratic strategists let leak to the press that Obama's top aides were looking at a massive character takedown of Romney in light of a deterring economy; "kill Romney" was a phrase used by one. "That was their memo that came out from their campaign," Ann Romney said. "And it's like, 'not when I'm next to him you better not."

The only thing I've heard is more of what put this country down, off-shoring, down-sizing, globalization, cut taxes on the rich, raise taxes on the poor (got to get the money somewhere), and further deregulate industries that are already spilling oil, and blowing up nuke plants.

I don't think anyone has ever run for president and actually said less about what they were going to actually do.

Seriously I keep waiting for him to say "Something." Anything. Apparently he thinks he can win with a total negative campaign and some corrupt governors purging voting lists of heavily democratic minorities, old people, and students.

Because if you replace "Obama" with "Romney," suddenly Romney's one chance to win this election is revealed. And there is half a billion worth of investment in this election alone to protect....

Seriously now, I've largely stopped voicing that fear largely because I don't want anyone wasting time looking at me instead of the people who I think will actually try it.

But that is the elephant in the room, and I choose that metaphorical idiom quite carefully.

Yeah, Mitt brought a lot of hope when he was CEO of Bain Capital.

"I hope I won't get fired tomorrow."
"I hope I can get my job back, although there are two people competing for every job in our company."
"I hope I won't lose more than half my pay if I get my job back."
"I hope I can get a new job, now that Bain Capital closed my old company and devastated the local economy."
"I hope I can remember to ask everyone if they want fries with that."

Mitt W. Romney caused most of the problems America has. If he is elected president he will make them worse.
