Donald Trump Jr: Women Who Can’t ‘Handle’ Harassment ‘Don’t Belong In The Workforce’
Source: Huffington Post
Donald Trump Jr. offered some unsolicited career advice for women concerned about sexual harassment in the workplace: Just quit, already.
If you cant handle some of the basic stuff thats become a problem in the workforce today, then you dont belong in the workforce, Donald Trumps son told The Opie and Anthony Show in a 2013 interview that BuzzFeed just unearthed.
You should go maybe teach kindergarten, he said, apparently suggesting that teachers arent part of the workforce. You cant be negotiating billion-dollar deals if you cant handle, like, you know.
Gender-based harassment, both sexual and not, is against the law in the U.S. It is illegal to harass a woman by making offensive comments about women in general, according to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

(6,931 posts)At least, many people are saying that.
Seriously, nobody in their right mind would say these kinds of things. They're not only idiotic, they're wrong on every level. Was it Nobel Prize winning poet Bob Dylan who said "Nothing's more useless than a rich man's child"?

(67,782 posts)Ivanka Trump would not put herself in a position to be sexually harassed in the way that former Fox News chief Roger Ailes is accused of doing, Eric Trump said of his older sister on Tuesday, as he tried to explain their father's comments about how he would have responded if a superior had treated Ivanka similarly.
I would like to think she would find another career or find another company if that was the case, Donald Trump told Fox News contributor and USA Today columnist Kirsten Powers in comments published Monday.

like bringing Ailes on board was, and Bannon, and Giuliani, and Gingrich. They all ape the candidate's marital infidelity and sexual assault "flaws" or "foibles", all have a very public track record. And he runs against Sec. Clinton by accusing her of having a husband that does what dRump and the campaign surrogates all do.
Looks like women in the workplace can't get a fair shake from the dRump repug campaign, and they somehow use the "oddly victimized via megaphoned media dog whistles of incest" daughter to promote this stuff. They used her for their child leave policy scam too, and the campaign is all about "no pee breaks for women, no 'bad for the business' pregnancies, no natural nursing activities permitted", etc.
They get around actual campaign policy discussion by throwing this crazy and nauseating stuff out into the public, openly, then screaming and crying, pissing and moaning, about "why won't the media and the opposition talk about campaign policy positions?' "Why is the focus on all these tabloid style issues?"

(8,965 posts)Another instance of blaming the victim, and on a massive scale at that. Donald Trump's "values" are manifest in Junior's callous remarks. Perhaps Hillary might wish to qualify her praise for Trump's kids?

They'd be fired in weeks, they have absolutely NO CLUE what a real work environment is like, when you don't get to be the golden princelings. The whole family is totally foul.

(3,433 posts)It took her more than twice the time it would take a man to make it where she is today. She is finally being paid and recognized for all the hard work and loyalty. She has had to work twice as hard as her male colleagues for no other reason than she is female. Yet, that isn't enough ? She should be expected to out up with unwanted sexual advances and harassment too?
Deplorable isn't appropriate. I don't think there is a word that comes to mind which even approaches just how disgusted and angry this quote makes me feel.

(2,322 posts)...it seems the Trumps have the same mentality as ISIS. That women who go out in the world are asking to be harassed. If they don't want that, they should wear burkas and remain at home caring for little children.

(2,322 posts)...but I think they like the idea of burkas plenty. For women who aren't beautiful or who question or challenge them, or who are smarter than them. I think they'd love for such women to just hide themselves away from the world.

(6,241 posts)Some of the most brilliant people I work with are women. I wouldn't want anyone to do anything to make it hostile for them in my office. The company (and the coworkers) is much better off with their brains here. Thankfully, our office does not tolerate any harassment of any kind, and the people in our office are capable of acting like adults, and not coked out sex monkeys likes the Cheeto and his son.

(115,783 posts)for the 8 or so hours while they're at work. Maybe it isn't unreasonable to ask them to refrain from groping, leering, making crude remarks, and otherwise behaving like farm animals for that part of their day. In fact, the legal system has decided that it's quite reasonable to require men to walk upright and keep their hands to themselves in the workplace. Maybe someone should remind Uday (or is it Qusay?) that sexual harassment is illegal and, although unfortunately it still occurs, it can get you fired and your employer sued. Of course, Uday and Qusay have been protected from such consequences because they've only ever worked for the worst example ever of swinish (and illegal) behavior.

(178 posts)While this idiot probably doesn't need two income earners in the family, the rest of us do. Does he think there is a huge population of men married to all these "getting what they deserve" women that are cool with their wives being harassed as long as they're bringing home the bacon? Speaking for myself I guess, I'd really prefer my wife has a safe place to work. While my wife is fully capable of dealing with jackasses, and she does, it doesn't mean she should have to.

(12,663 posts)Because that's how I dealt with sexual harassment in the work place before the Navy started getting even a little serious about it back in the early 1980's...
I've also seen men get sexually harassed - yeah, it's just horseplay until someone can't handle it anymore and does something that gets half a dozen people sent to the hospital.
The workplace is where people are supposed to be professional and get work done. It's not a "locker room" or a hunting ground for bored bullies looking for a little amusement while they're avoiding having to do actual work.
