Poll: Trump, Clinton tied in Ohio
Source: Politico
Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are tied in Ohio, according to a poll conducted this week prior to the final debate between the two presidential candidates.
The Suffolk University poll of 500 likely voters found Trump and Clinton each earning 45 percent. There was little support for third-party candidates: Gary Johnson, the former New Mexico governor running in most states as a Libertarian but listed on the ballot in Ohio as unaffiliated with a major party, earned just 2 percent. Green Party nominee Jill Stein was at 1 percent, as was independent Richard Duncan.
Five percent of likely voters were undecided, and 1 percent refused to respond to the question.

In the previous Suffolk poll conducted five weeks ago, Trump had a 3-point lead over Clinton, 42 percent to 39 percent.

(11,523 posts)The thing that's important, I believe, is that in the same poll tRump has lost 3 points.

(68,868 posts)Now it's a hood ornament--a state Clinton will win if it's a national blowout.
She's more likely at this point to win Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina than she is to win Ohio and Iowa.
Trump really did accelerate the demographic and geographic trends for both parties.

(70,581 posts)Trump has almost no ground game here and no GOTV structure either.
Trump is such a drag that don't be surpirised if Strickland runs tough against
Portman.
I have a hardcore red voting/tea party home close to me that took down their
Trump Pence sign after "the bus tapes" were released.

(14,176 posts)Like the "Bradley Effect" but not exactly. Its partly that people are too embarrassed to admit they are voting for Trump, but its partly that this is a new zeitgeist. Many people, of all political stripes, have reached the conclusion that government is not looking out for their best interest. One side blames more the cozy relationship they have with the 1% and bankers etc...and the other the "wasteful" programs and corruption inside the government.
So on the left, many are swallowing their reservations, because of the alternative and voting for Hillary. Those on the right ARE NOT SWALLOWING ANYTHING. Not polls, not TV pundits and so-called experts opinions, not who they are told won the debate.
There are the usual pockets of fundies and gun nuts who always vote single issue - but there is a whole new slew of voters that will vote for Trump regardless of ANYTHING because they believe nothing on TV or in print on the MSM is true, and more importantly is not in their best interest.
And the MSM, much like the GOP, have done it to themselves. One example is the Iraq War. Today the Repblican nominee actually brags about not being in favor of that war (he says ever), and the Democratic nominee says her vote was a mistake. I have yet to see any network main stream news service admit THEY were wrong in pushing it so hard, for silencing and censoring those of us that tried to speak up.
So I have a fear that there are millions that are just sitting on their hands for now. If they start hearing some show on how bad Trump is they just turn it off, or tune it out, or just get even angrier at how the big media is lying to them. And the more papers come out for Hillary, the more pundits that say she has it in the bag, the more gloating they see from Democrats, the more determined they are to run to the ballot box and vote for that one person, deplorable though he is, that will shake things up and PISS OFF the status quo and the status quo voter.
So I believe it will be a very close election. And it will take every Hillary supporter to get out and vote. Please no more premature celebrations. As of now, Obama's term runs out soon, and there is no declared replacement, despite the assurances from many in here and on the MSM.
